For some days now, I have been in search of any chemical-related industry where I can do my industrial training under the student industrial work experience scheme (SIWES). But it has been tough, as most companies refuse to allow me to drop my application letters. They either say they don't collect industrial trainees or that the slot is full. But the truth is that if one has connections in that company, they will open their doors wide to you. I know connections work in every part of the world, but in my country, I think it has now become nepotism. For those who understand what nepotism means: "Nepotism is favoring friends or relatives because of their relationship with them rather than their ability."

Connection cones before your degree here in Nigeria. Had a similar experience during my ND days . It was a bad experience.
