Readers Come First in Writing

Writing is a form of communication, and readers come first.

In fact, your readers should be the only thing you're thinking about when you write. It's not about what you want to say or how you want to say it; it's about what your reader needs to hear from you. And if they don't need to hear from you at all? Well, then there's no point in writing in the first place!

I know this is a controversial statement, and the topic of how much writers should focus on the reader has been debated for decades. But I don't think it's controversial to say that if you're writing for readers without considering what they need or want from your content, then you're probably not going to be successful as a writer.

That's because readers are what make your writing valuable. Without them, it's just ink on paper or pixels on a screen. But with them? You have an audience who will listen to what you have to say and engage with it. They'll remember your work long after they've read it—and maybe even share it with their friends.

The key is to find out what your reader wants and give them that. If they want information, give them information. If they want an opinion, give them an opinion—but make sure it's an informed one.

Be mindful of the reader's perspective at all times: think about where they are coming from, what their situation is like, what their interests are likely to be. If they're not familiar with the subject matter at hand—for example, if they're new parents—they might need more information than someone who has been parenting for years already would need. So make sure you're always aware of where your reader stands on any given topic before beginning to write about it so that you can tailor your content accordingly.

As a writer, you want to make sure that the reader is at the forefront of the conversation. Why? Because it's all about them! Readers come first in writing because they want to feel like what they're reading is relevant to them and their lives. If you can connect with your reader on a personal level, then you're going to have an easier time getting them engaged with your content—and that's where things start getting really fun.

You don't want to just write something and hope it works out. You want to make sure that what you're writing is relevant and interesting for your readers. And how do you do that?

By asking questions! Ask yourself what kind of things would be relevant for your audience and then start writing down some answers based on those questions. Once you've got some ideas written down, take a look at each one and ask yourself: "Is this something my audience will be interested in?" If yes, then keep going! If no, then move on until something clicks with your audience… You'll know it when it happens because they'll start engaging with the content and commenting on it!

In Conclusion

There's a lot of writing advice out there, but when it comes down to it, the most important thing is to put your readers first.

Yes, you want your writing to be efficient and effective—but that's only the beginning. You have to think about what the reader wants and needs from your content, and make sure that what you're providing is going to help them do their job or achieve their goal. If you don't know that kind of information up front, you need to ask questions so that you can find out!

And if you do know what they need? Well then, make sure they get it in your writing—and then some. Give them extra value by including something unexpected or unique that they might not have expected but will love anyway.

Your readers are counting on you: don't let them down!

I like how you put it - indeed, writing is a discussion between the reader and the writer. The two are rarely in the same place, so one can't use gestures, varying tones of voice and other means of relaying your message. Everything has to be in your text.
