My Sister's Third Eye

The night was cold. People were already inside their house because it was already pass dinner time. There were only little house with electricity that made the surroundings more darked, it was because electricity had just reached the village. Only a few can afford to have their house wired and have electric lights yet.

A group of girls were walking at the unpaved highway when suddenly this girl saw a lady in pure white beside the road some meters away. Her hair was covering her face that's why she tried to look or stare to make sure who the lady was. She was a little bit occupied that's why she didn't noticed they were already near the house of the person who just died from an accident.

One minute they were walking, the next she was pushed by her friends as they ran fast because they were afraid to walk on that part of the road. She was left, with some bruise on her knees and arms. She looked at the part where the lady was but was nowhere to be seen. She didn't know it was some ghost she had seen.

This was the first incident my sister saw a ghost when electricity was not yet distributed to every house. She later realized it was some ghost because she was waiting for her friends to tell about it but nothing. So it was only her who had seen it.

Our neighbors house when we were kids had a balcony in between the kitchen and bedrooms. The balcony serves as a living room, it was spacious but had an open part which was supposed to be for windows. But no windows was installed so that when they put on the light, the back part and some front portion was reached by the light inside.

My sister went to pee outside at nearly midnight because comfort room was located outside our house. Because our neighbor's house light at the balcony she saw a shadow at the back of our neighbor's house. The shadow of a woman who was combing her long straight hair then lied down. Because it was dark and no one would be looking at my sister pee, she's doing her thing just outside our house. Then the shadow again sat up and begun to comb her again then lied down. It was like that for three times when she decided to get inside because she's done peeing.

When she was at her bed, she kept thinking about what she saw. Our neighbor, an aunt had a curly hair and not so long that would've reached her waist. There was no bed or hammock maybe at the balcony where that shadow was supposed to be lying and sitting up from. And it's very late at night, why would she be doing that? She shrugged it off. No thoughts about ghost and slept.

At the same house, our neighbor which was only 5 meters away from our house. After dinner, my sister went out to wash her hands at the faucet because there's no sink inside our house. She saw a little boy, probably 4 years of age. The boy was looking up inside the house but it seems no intention of going in. My sister thought why is the boy just looking inside and not just go in. Why was our neighbor's family were eating and not call the boy outside. The boy was not any of the kids of our neighbor's she knew it.

The public faucet was just outside our house so she washed her hands and looked again at the stairs where the boy was looking up to but wasn't there already..

Another incident was, she was roasting some peanuts at one of our aunt's house one evening. Located just at the back of our neighbor's house. Our aunts were at their mother's house who just passed away. So she was left alone.

She heard some noise at the second floor. The house was semi-concrete, the second floor was of galvanized iron and wood for the floor while the first floor part was concretr. She thought it was some rats running but the noise became more louder as she got the mop and tried to shoo away the rats. The sound became more distinguishable as if someone was trying on the heeled sandals above and walking to and fro. She kept listening to it but then the footsteps of sandal sounds- tok tok tok- began to descend the stairs. She put off the fire of the peanut she's roasting and fled. She was catching her breath as she reach her friend's house, instead of coming at our house. This time she was already aware of ghosts.

These were just some of the encounters of my sister from seeing and hearing something which some were related to future events. It fade away when she was consistently going to church and her faith strengthened when she was at her teen age years. Our maternal grandfather had also a third eye and can feel paranormal things but he just keep quite not to scare us. Though my sister's third eye was closed she could still sensed things in her dreams that might come up.

Closing thoughts

My late grandfather always told us that ghosts has no ability to harm humans. He always told us not to come home very late at night because ghosts were harmless but human with dark minds can harm anyone along the way at night or maybe on broad day light.

This was reason I don't also fear ghosts. Some considered third eye to be a blessing or a curse. And yes, third eye can be closed thru strengthening faith in God.
