My first Handmade Craft

I can’t exactly remember when I started to love felt crafting. One day I just found myself getting a pair of scissor, needles and threads and bought some felt cloth online. I also ended up watching youtube tutorials on how to make simple crafts out of felt cloth. So after learning some basic knowledge I was able to make my first craft out of it. My first attempt was making felt donut. Below is the picture of my very first project.

So for today’s article I will share to you on how to make your own wreath out of felt cloth. Christmas celebration within our country (Philippines) usually starts in the month of September. By this time some families are beginning to set up christmas decorations within their homes. Since I do like do-it-yourself crafts I came up making my own christmas wreath.

Materials Needed

So first, I gathered all the things needed for my this one. Of course we needed some felt cloth in different colors.

You can bought this cloth in Divisoria, but you can also bought it via online, which I opted to do. The price difference is not that big, so I preferred buying it online for a less hassle transaction. We will also be needing some needles and threads in different colors too. Then, our handmade crafts will not be completed without using glue gun and glue sticks. And finally we will be using fiber fill for stuffing. Right after gathering all the materials needed for this project, we will now start making our diy christmas wreath. Oh before I forgot, you can check for your chosen design or characters you want on the internet and print some patterns. Or if you want you can just simply draw it and then cut it out.

Below were the characters I chose to make my wreath. I also cut some leaves and poinsettia flowers to make it more attractive. After cutting the patterns, I handsew it and then stuffed with fiber fill. On this particular project, I have gingerbread, rudolf the reindeer, a santa, snowman and candy cane. I feel very excited for the final outcome, as this was my very first attempt making a christmas wreath. I will put this on our front door this coming Christmas season, and give some to my relatives.

But before that I also made the wreath frame out of felt cloth too. As you can see, these were all handmade so it really takes a lot of time for it to be done.I am glad the kids have not started their online class yet, therefore I still have a lot of time finishing it.

Finish Product

Now that we have all the things needed, the final step is to glue all the characters available into the wreath frame. Just be careful in using glue gun because it might cause burns. Make sure to use a good amount of glue sticks so that it will make your wreath more sturdy. And here it is the final product is done.

Closing Thoughts

The best thing about doing diy crafts is that you have the freedom to choose the characters and design you want to. The effort and the time you spent is worth it in the end. It may take a lot of time but as long as you are enjoying, it wouldn’t be a problem at all. You will also find it hard to make one but believe me it isn’t. You just need to keep trying and just like what has been said “Practice makes perfect”.

Thank you everyone for sharing your time to read. May God bless us all. Take care and stay safe too!
