How would you contribute towards an Improved climate in 2022?

The industrial revolutions have brought glory to man. All through the periods, from the first industrial revolution to what we have today, man has shown ingenuity in skills, administration, and knowledge in seeking better ways to deal with problems for our collective good. The by-product of all those are seen in the comfort we enjoy in all facets of our lives today. From the more comfortable and convenient ways of transportation to the electricity that power our homes and factories. Also, from the computer and microchips to mass production in goods, with more efficient services.

But all these have come with a price upon our earth. The decades-long, merciless exploitation and exploration of the earth is taking a toll on humans' only home, ( planet Earth).

New diseases are on the rise, sea levels are rising, wildfires, extreme weather, and unusual occurrences. But nothing strikes hard to the heart as the mysterious death of wildlife. Often, we hear in the news about birds falling dead from the sky or the mass death of animals at sea. All these are results of our actions and inactions upon mother earth.

For too long we have been taking from the earth more than it can be replenished. And this has led to the crisis we have come to know as global warming.

Some people are still in disbelief about global warming and have in many ways downplayed the consequences of it, even sponsoring campaigns against calls to action. Fortunately, those who downplay the consequences are rich and benefit enormously from the status quo.

How about the poor nations whose sole means for survival are agriculture? What happens to their crop from the disasters of floods due to rises in sea levels caused by global warming? What happens to their income and means of livelihood? What happens to the animals they keep for protein?

Although the Paris accord is the major step taken by world leaders to check our destructive actions against the earth. But like taking one step forward and five backward, there are still disagreements about ways to heal this planet.

For me, in my little way, I have chosen to do my part to improve the earth in 2022. I hope to do these:

1. reduce carbon emission by switching to the solar grid

2. minimizing as much as possible the use of plastics

3. Using bicycles more often to my destinations to cut CO emissions

4. Planting more trees

5. Going Organic.
