When the night calls you to sleep
You wanted to get things done. You wanted to take advantage of the 'free' night. You wanted to finish things. You wanted to beat all deadlines days before the dates.
But baby wants to sleep. Her brother wanted you by their side when they close their eyes to sleep for the night. You succumb because what can you do? You are their mother. Who else will do that for them?
You lay your weary body beside them, humming to them as they sleep, patting their backs, tapping at their faces, pinching their dearest cheeks.
Then you regret not turning the laptop off. You should have turned it off because that was what experience taught you. That once the children gets you to bed with them, that you will be sleeping. You should have turned the laptop off.
But you also thought, just what if you will be willing yourself to wake up to continue with what you were doing? So you simply didn't turn the device off for that reason. Just what if...
But once the night calls you, you will have to close your eyes and call it a day. You'll be having the next day anyway, to finish whatever was left off during the previous day.
Once the night calls you to sleep, succumb to it. It will be like a gift you give yourself every opportunity. Succumb to the call, and you will be thankful that you have slept early for the night.
So for now, let us say goodnight to the notebook, goodnight to the computer, goodnight to the cellphone, goodnight to the waving novel, goodnight to the unfinished movie, goodnight to the night...
Hayyyy, once night calls me and I saw my bed, I really felt tired and sleepy. Then I surely sleep early. ☺️
