Noisy creature

Frogs and toads.
They are related and it's several years ago I saw them in my garden. I guess it's too dry for them around here. At that time I remember they lived in the water basins I dug at several spots in my garden to provide the wolves with water. At that time little frogs even jumped on the front window of my car. It was at the end of the day as I drove in town. I no longer have the photo I tried to make from it. Green, I mean really green little frogs all over the window. Good to live in the trees.
The last one I saw this year was dead. At least I think it was. Two legs stretched out as if it was caught by a heart attack during a jump. It hid in the grass, tried to hide, and to survive the hot sun.
I have a pond but never had frogs in it although the kinds at earlier places I lived were filled with life. Most of the time my present pond empty. I dug that one too for the wolves. I thought it would be a great place for them to cool off but without water it's hard. I stopped refilling it since the water I have comes from my own well. Water is life they say and it's true. Once you are without water, like we were during this summer for several weeks, you appreciate it more and save every drop of it.
It's a pity there's no room for frogs and toads here. I like their sound although some species make more dB than one can imagine. (Who says nature calm down, is relaxing, is wrong.)

Once I tried to keep little frogs in my aquarium. I especially bought this tiny breed at the aquaria specialist but it was a disaster. They jumped out and I found them dead back on the floor.
I never ate a frog which means I cannot tell you what it tastes like. Eating frogs is forbidden for a few decades by now. The frog is protected in my country.

Eleutherodactylus coqui produces 80-100 decibels. It's as much as a crowdy road/highway. This tiny frog is only 3.5 cm tall. This species was studied over 23 years. The higher the temperature the higher the sound it makes.

If you live in a place where there are lots of frogs, you might find it difficult to sleep at night 😂

In the place where I live, frogs are rarely seen. Sometimes I see them on the streets, but only during heavy rains. I don't know where they come from, and I don't even know where they go when the rain stops. We can usually see them on lakes and rivers.

There are periods they travel. With us they cross roads too and people try to save them from the cars driving them over. I believe the toads do so. I guess they know where to hide. Year's before I heard them in the evening it early in the morning but I never do now.

The last time I spotted a frog was under my foot, maybe 7 years ago.

I was visiting my sister and the daft fool was sitting on the front door's welcome mat. Stepped right on him as I exited. He survived my lethal weight somehow.

You stepped on a little prince huh? Good to hear it survived. I wonder why it sat on the mat. Looking for a shelter or pond to stay or a short cut to?

There's a river at the other side, but I can't tell you why he jumped all around the rows of houses to go sit on a mat.

Eleuterio the frog would have liked to live in my house. The temperature here is very hot, so all the neighbors would hear it hehehe.

I wonder if you are still able to sleep with such a noisy creature in the house. What if he calls and invites all the other little froggies at your place? Imagine the noise they make. 😲

True, it would be a disaster. But I think I could live with that. I like the sounds of nature, they themselves run out in time.

Our house is located near a rice field and when it rains those frogs are too loud and noisy that it's even hard to fall asleep at night.

I'm surprised to know that frogs are protected in your country while in my country they even consider rice field frogs as a delicacy. My dad used to cook those frogs but I never tried eating them even once. But they said frogs tastes like chicken.

I can imagine how it sounds. Nature is not calming us down at times. We have the same here with the extremely noise birds make.

My mother ate frog at the restaurant but ur's longer ago. Perhaps they are getting rare eating them is no longer allowed. They are no longer sliced OP en during Biological lessons either. Foxes are protected too.

My nephew had a frog and a toad in the garden but they have disappeared. At first he kept the frog in an aquarium but thought it should be in the garden, hopping around. Then a toad visited but now both disappeared.

I assume both will look for a partner. I don't think you can keep them at one place..🤔

With us they say if you hear them it'good fishing weather. I am not sure if that's true. Perhaps it is because in most cases it starts to rain.

While here, frogs will always be around no matter the season because my house is near a creak. Interesting to find out that you tried to keep a frog once. A pretty exotic breed at that

They were sold and I had more than one. These species was very small. We have frogs and toads outside too. My earlier ponds had them and at school it was common to keep frogs, the little ones and see how they develop. Slicing frog (and heart) was part of the Biological lessons too. They skipped that.

Ohh so you also kept frogs. That's interesting. My mom won't let me keep any frogs ;-; as much as i want to. We never had biology classes that required us to dissect frogs. I wanted to do that though but i think dissecting mice is enough blood on my hands for me

We are surrounded by water where I grew up. The farmers have ditches around their grassland. I once went searching with my dad for them. They are so cute still black.

So you killed mice. I never did that but I killed more animals as I ever thought I would. 😢

But when it's raining, there are a lot of them making noise in lakes or in a pond.

I think they call each other and mate too. If there are too many tiny fishes of them in a pond a part will stay fish for a year and develop later. I guess the lack of water doesn't make my place attractive enough. Who knows next year.
