I am not very familiar with haircuts. I do not pay them a visit weekly like a part of my society does. I never really liked them plus I do not need one. So why visit a hairdresser? What I need I can do myself. Main reason why I do not visit a hairdresser: I do not like strangers touching me and messing up my hair. Hairdressers say they are specialists but my experiences say something else.
Yes, I have been to several hairdressers in the past. They all messed it up. My hair has a fine structure and if they comb it they comb knots in it. All those sprays and stuff they use cause me allergies and hurt my eyes.
Hairdressers hate long hair, hate to wash it. One told me it's because their sinks are too small. They always try to cut it off and say "I assure you you will never have it long again if you have had it short once".
Hairdressers are bad listeners, they do what they want and ignore your wish. If you want 0.5 inches shorter they make it ten or twenty inches.
I have strong doubts about the "everyone loves short hair" saying. I don't like short hair. Short hair is for boys and men and even with them I like long hair better. I learned hair is something to be proud of. Short hair, a shaved head is what they do to punish you or keep lice away in the army for example. They punish women with it, it's a way to humilate them or it's a sign of cancer, chemotherapy.
If it comes to women: long hair stands for feminity. If you cut it off your feminity is gone, apparantly. Many say it's not done for elderly women to have long hair. If you are getting older there's no need to be attractive.
It's proved a hairdresser causes stress and I am clearly not the only one who feels it. Of all those people who visit a hairdresser the largest percentage is not satisfied about the job done. It causes them stress if their hair is cut wrong or it's dyed in a different color. The result is rarely what they have in mind. This should be a sign for hairdressers but they ignore it. Their customers keep hoping for the best and keep thinking the hairdresser is an expert.
Disappointing results sounds familiar to me. I once had a head like a weird poodle. I was not happy with it. I opened the door to leave the shop, a wind catch my hair and blew it. Back home I looked like an idiot, my kid didn't recognize me and kept screaming plus I never managed to do it the same way as the hairdresser did. It cost me a fortune to look ridiculous and I was so not me.
If a hairdresser spoils your hair you have no guarantee. Frequently you are a study object. I remember one cut in my brother's ear. Dye allover your face has a high score too and the one who curled my hair burned my face. No sorry, no money back nothing.
These days everyone can rub shampoo in eyes, dye hair, shave it off and charge 100 bucks for it (gossiping, gossip magazines and bad coffee or tea in a coffee cup included).
Most shocking I find how dirty hairdressers are. Hair dots everywhere, dirty combs, scissors, sinks, and mirrors. It's clear to me why they closed them down during the lockdown. An acquaintance cried because of that fact. It was the only thing during the entire lockdown that really hurt her. She could not let her hair cut. How pathetic we humans became we can't live without a hairdresser. To those who can't: See youtube and DIY.
Al long as my hair is fixed up in style I am good and behave as a kid admiring my new look and squealing…. What actually frightens me is when I’m trying a new person out
