The latest news...

Is it a penalty we talk about? What a strange word. The "Boston Marathon Bomber" will most likely laugh his head off and show more middle fingers to the media and everyone who says a guy like him doesn't deserve to live or better live on costs of the society.
Prison doesn't make you a better person, they say. Out of over ten years of writing with prisoners, I can tell you if it comes to being a better person nothing will. For sure society will not. The biggest part of the inmates do exactly the same once out. Dreams, wishes, ove no longer exists once out. It's the call for the "good old life" they hear. "I will never go back to that life, never go back to prison", is just a phrase.
Like we all know the bullies are rewarded. Those who ask receive and scam does good just like lying and cheating, pretending you are an honest person and you are a Christian. Of course, all inmates are Christians or suddenly saw the light and they want your prayers. Since I am not such a hypocrite I avoid these prisoners. Sorry rapists, pedophiles, manipulative narcissists, and serial killer for fun you are not Christians. To me, this all is cheap talk. Not one of you need my prayers, I even doubt it would do you any good. For sure you wouldn't have turned into a better person if you didn't end up in prison. You would have shown your middle finger just like that "Boston Marathon Bomber" does and so many other people do. They do not care about society, they only care about their own needs. They do not invest in society but only abuse it for their own greed.

How to build a better society if this isn't part of human nature?
Honestly, I have no clue. It's true I study the mind, the sick mind. It's true it fascinates me liars and cheaters are frequently too dumb to notice you see right through them. Even if you leave a message they do not get the message.
It's a good idea people like me live far away from humanity and hardly interfere with humankind.
I am for freedom of speech, mind, whatever you like to associate freedom with but not for freedom of stupidity. A government doesn't need to invent law after law because the constitution is clear. If there are rules and you sign up for them you stick to them. If not you go elsewhere. Go live in a world that fits better to your idea or start your own society, garden of Eden, platform, or whatever you need to feel heard. The world is big enough and there are more people who think, live like you. Since I do not join Tik Tok (more news of the day) I don't care if it is or will be forbidden

No, I am not saying "Serial killers reunite" or "pedophiles reunite" we have been there.
What I do say is we all have norms and values we live by so does a society. If you cannot live with these norms move to a better place for you. Somewhere where you do not feel the need to harm others. Believe me I can imagine easily how to be a serial killer. For example if you find the courage, after years of abusement by your villagers, to fight for you. Like we all know it's flight or fight and some people come to a point they no longer flight and if you ask me they are right.
I am not a person filled with mercy and the scale I would use in the name of justice would be a different one as what I see around me. Being rich, famous or a VIP doesn't make one a better person. I am not a hypocrite and would not hide behind a jury and not let someone else do the dirty job for me. I would pull the trigger myself and let death penalthy not be the better place to be.

Does prison make you a better person?
It works for some they have a great life between those walls. They have more luxury and rights than they would ever have outside. They have a job, their personal housekeeper, cook, etc. They have all the time in the world to e-mail, engage, tell their pathetic story, ask for your help (money please, who needs a prayer) and even get married which provides in more rights.
A small part does change because the only thing they want is to get out, be with their family but there's a small chance that will happen. Being labeled, the family left is not a great help.

Death penalty... What a weird punishment.
Are you aware life improves extremely if a prisoner moves into that place? There are inmates who ask for it because of these reasons? I wonder how many would if it was "death penalty" and 1 minute later they were dead.

I don't know if prison make someone a better person but I would think that being in prison would give time to reflect and think of the things they would rather be doing than staying in prison?

Some might reflect others' need to survive and continue their business. I wrote with someone who started painting (in USA prisons many do). He loved the lockdown most of all because he had time to paint, wasn't disturbed. He painted walls for the prison and they were so happy with him they refused his transfer to a prison closer to home.

That is nice. Good that he was given the tools he needed to paint. I guess there is always 2 sides of a situation. Glad to read that this one has some positive impact. I liked the lockdown too :)

There are some chamge their lives in prison to be with families, and others prefer to stay after serving their sentence for no more families awaits them and that's another punishment.

It can be a punishment if no family waits for you but at least you know and nothing is in your way to start a new life. I know prisoners who do, even if they will never leave prison again they connect, sport, have a job, get married, etc.

There are some also after release with no family awaits them have manage to go on a new normal life. Have a new family and live in a righteous life, but there are some who goes back to their old ways and lock up again.

And some spend the biggest time of their life in prison. Imagine... One week or month out and back to jail for several years and you are 60 years old.

This reminds me of a movie that I watched the other day. I forgot the title but it is about a man who treated his wife badly, does not have work but he takes care of his 3 little daughters nicely until the day that he is imprisoned of the accusation burning his daughters to death.

He was at first grumpy and rude in his early year in prison for he is sentenced to death. He keeps on telling that he is not guilty until the day he died and in the end, he is a bad man in the eyes of society but he really did not burn his children to death. It was all because of money. His father in law bought life insurance for all his children, and I think you can guess the rest.

I do not know if a prison can make someone better but I believe that sometimes an innocent man or woman might be imprisoned by those who can pay for their freedom. Not everyone in prison is bad people, they might just be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Everyone deserves a second chance and also be responsible for the wrong they did. I might say that they deserve a second chance but I am sure to be avoiding them for the rest of my life. Avoiding as much as I can.

Yes, I have someone I know, 3 of them, who has been in and out of prison but did not change at all. They got worse. The fourth one is I am not sure for she is still in there but I hope she will take the responsibility of taking care her mother once she is out, so I can have a little bit of freedom.

You know with us you can go to prison for small things too like driving too fast and not being able to pay the bill or if you cannot pay your tax. I think I might do that if I can not afford to pay. It's not the same prison as serial killers go to plus these days the ankle bracelet is used a lot. Too for avoiding drinking and driving.

A part just pays someone else's bill and I am afraid those who do change don't have the money or power to be released earlier. I am not sure if I would avoid those people. It depends on the crime but most of all how this person treats me, me, and those dear to me. In the end that's what counts to me most. How people treat me not their history.

If you remember the movie (or was it a documentary) let me know please. 💕

This is how it supposed to be. If they do not give me troubles, I don't mind staying with them but those I know gave me chaos, therefore I prefer staying away from them.

I hope I can remember it or perhaps if I saw it again. I will let you know.
