“PARENTS” Its such a beautiful and Caring word. Every Person is lucky to have Loving and Caring Parents. Parents are very important in our life. The most important, Secure and solid pillar of our life. They teach and influence us to do right things, to go right path and many more things. In our life, Our parents seems to be like a god for us. They Fulfill our all needs and willing. They are with us and support us in any phrase of life. They sacrifices so many things for us , why they do this ? Because they love us so much.

This is the story of my friend Lanie who are studying in the city. She decided to go home after vacition to see her parents and her siblings. Despite the status of their life, Lanie is striving for her school in return for her parent's sacrifice. They are the who will help us in our dark time, the shoulders we can lean on, the person who we can share our problems.

Our parent are the one who will never leave us even up to the end of the world. You can see their sacrifices and striving for us to have better life. Sometimes if we are broke, even the food they will take, they give to us for us not to become hungry. Our parents are the one who mold us of what we are going to be.

Richness cannot be only determined by money but also by the love and support from a family. It was a rainy midyear vacation when Lanie, finally on her way home, with joyful tears, hurriedly stepped off from a jeep she's riding on.

Lanie was away from her family for 10 months long because she studied in a city which was quite far from her province. And she couldn't afford to go home even monthly because of the expensive transportation fee. So, she just waited until the second semester ended. Now, she couldn't wait any longer to see them, she missed them so much! Carrying her heavy bag on her right hand and less than 10 pcs of mangoes on her left hand, she smiled widely while walking along the muddy road towards their nipa hut. She never minded being soaked in the rain as long as she was now few meters away to home.

Stepping on their yard with so much excitement made her heart beat fast. She then called her parents and siblings. "Ma, pa? Where are you? I'm already home," Lanie shouted. "Sisters, brother? Ate is here. Come on, I've got some presents for you," she added. But she got no respond and found no one in the hut. The place was covered by a deafening silence.

She went inside the hut while her tears started on rolling down her face again but this time it wasn't a joyful one. It was a painful feeling, knowing that no one was there to welcome her home. But after a few minutes, she heard some voices that seemed to be so familiar to her. It was her siblings' voices, she looked out into the window and saw them in a race coming to the hut. Following them were her parents bringing some root crops and vegetables on their heads. They were from their farm.

She felt pity for them. They were now old but still they sacrificed and worked hard just to send her to school and so as her brother and sisters. She went down from the hut and with teary eyes she ran towards them. Her siblings were shocked with excitement seeing her home. She gave them all -her sisters and brother- a hug. And finally she reached her embrace to her parents and told them how much she missed them and how much she was proud to have a parents like them.

They strived so hard in life just to give them a proper education that they need and can use as weapon in surviving in the future. Their parents always reminded them, even before that they were still kids, that education is the only treasure they could give and leave to them. But in Lanie's heart, her treasure is none other than her beloved parents and siblings.

“ Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” -Nelson Mandela

Lanie is very proud of her parents because of the sacrifices and striving hard for her to go to school even though her parents is old. She told to her parents that when she is done schooling she will have work for them. By that her parents will not work for her, and will have rest. When Lanie is in school and have some difficulties the only thing that Lanie gave strength and inspiration is her parents and her siblings . She thinks of her parents sacrifices, by that it gives her the power to continue and have some life for her parents.

"Parents aren’t the people you come from. They’re the people you want to be, when you grow up."

Moral lesson; Always appreciate your parents effort, love and sacrifices. Tell them now how proud you are of having them in your life. Do not waste the time, the chance and the opportunity to tell them your appreciation. And lastly, love them fully.

Authors Note:

Enjoy the times that we are with our parents, time is running. We don't know what will happen next. We need to be grateful to our parents and have gratitude towards them . We need to think their sacrifices for to strive more. The best feeling in the world to see our parents happy. For me, seeing my parents happy makes me happy also, especially my mother becauase she's the one I'm talking with. While we're young we need to show love and tell them how much we love them then hug them. By that, they can also see that we appreciate them.

Indeed, people nowadays specially teenagers and kids didn't appreciate their parents effort to gave their needs. They don't experience hardship of life that's why they thinking that it's easy to live. Those people in province are the one I admire, those teenagers that grew in province experience how to plant crops, gather woods, fetch water, and live in simple life are those striving to escape from poverty. They are hoping to find an opportunity here in Manila just to sustain their needs and for their families in province.

I love those people who live in the province. They usually appreciate small things even though they are not fortuned to have more money. And they are thankful to their parents of what they achieved.
