There was an anti-rabies vaccination drive that happened in our Barangay. So our family decided to have our pets vaccinated.
Rabies is a fatal virus that is transmitted to humans via the saliva of infected animals, and it is usually transmitted through bites, scratches, or licks on an opened wound. Though this can be a preventable disease through vaccination.
This is my sister holding our Dog Pierre. I had to carry him going out while she was waiting in line. When it was almost her turn she told us to go up. I had to carry Pierre going there and he's really heavy, I describe him as carrying a cannonball. He's actually around 7 kilos.
We were thinking of ways on how to bring Yoda there, while my sister was in line. She saw somebody bring a basket full of cats. So we opted to do the same thing because he's not used to going out and he easily gets startled. I remember bringing him upstairs for Christmas to take photos of him and he was really angry at us. There was actually a person holding a cat behind us and I can't stop staring at it because it was so calm despite all the dogs surround it. In our minds, why can't Yoda be like this.
The vaccine drive happened in this store, and the vaccine was for free. They were also selling a Dewormer for P100 PHP per tablet. The first thing that we had to do is give the vaccination card and that guy checked it and wrote on it.
If you see the blood on my sister's shirt, something actually happened to Pierre an hour ago before going for his vaccination. They just told me about the story because I wasn't there when it happened. This was what happened, one of our cousins' dogs was able to escape their house and he immediately went to our house. I don't know whenever he escapes he would run straight to our house. We were unlucky because our main door wasn't locked so he forced himself inside. They both fought while my mom and siblings and cousin were trying to stop them. Pierre actually got hurt and there was a little blood though the other dog also got his tongue bitten. It's like that other dog's sole purpose in his life is to kill our dog. We really don't know why he's pissed at Pierre. I really feel bad for him.
That other dog is actually the dog that bit my other cousin and my brother. I remembered that my brother was bleeding badly, a good thing was that the dog was vaccinated.
It was Pierre's turn to get vaccinated and the only thing that he did was flinch when he got injected by the vaccine.
When my younger brother opened the basket for Yoda, we were surprised at how calm he was. We thought that he would go wild. The person who vaccinated him didn't have problems. I'm shocked that it went smoothly. After their shot, the guy told us that they are not allowed to take a bath for 1 whole week. And he gave us the date for the next vaccination. The people who did it were really kind and accommodating.
I'm surprised that there are a lot of pet owners in our street. As you can see, there are a lot of people who were in line waiting for their turn. It's like every household had a pet with them. There were more dogs than cats.
It was actually Pierre's third time to receive the vaccine and Yoda's second time. The card that they gave us had information about rabies.
My brother told me to separate Yoda from Pierre after the vaccination because the last time he got vaccinated, Yoda was furious and he was in a stance that he didn't like Pierre near him. So we put Yoda inside our room. Later on, we didn't notice Yoda escaped my room and he didn't mind being with Pierre so we just let them be.
We were observing Yoda and he wasn't as active and he was just quiet. That shot made our house peaceful for a while. I really think it's important to have your pets vaccinated against rabies.

A very good practice As a Veterinarian I would recommend that You should vaccinate your pets not only for rabies but also for the other deadly disease of pets Like parvovirus disease,Canine destemper, Kennel cough etc
