Good Day Guys
Let me share with you an update on some of our pets and my short walk outside the house.
Last week, there were 14 fishes that died because the pump was weak. Though I didn't get to see it, my mom just told me how many they were. When I was looking at the pond I noticed that most of the fish were the young ones. So I presumed that most of the fishes that died were adults. It's really nice to look at the pond right now because it's really clear unlike before.
Me and my brother actually climbed this ladder. I had to collect some fruits from our macopa/ java apple tree. It has been a very long time before I was able to climb the roof again. I noticed that the roof was weathered already and I was scared that if I make a mistake I would fall going down haha. I was walking carefully and checking on what spots I would pass.
When I got to the tree, it was all worth it. I thought that there were only a few fruits from below, but when I saw the whole tree, it was full of fruits. Me and my brother started picking some fruits. I was kinda scared of all the bugs that would fly to me because I was just using my tank top when I got there. I also saw some cool-looking jumping spiders which were really colorful. There were also fruits where some of the ants had their nest in it.
This was all the fruit that we were able to get, it was washed and my mom added vinegar. She did that because it was a natural disinfectant. My mom got some of the fruits. I said that I'll get the ones with a lot of holes to feed some of my feeders.
Yoda and Pierre
If you guys follow me, you would know who Yoda and Pierre are. Pierre is our dog who's a chihuahua and Yoda is the cat. I was busy reviewing and when I went out to eat a snack, I spotted these two lying comfortably on our couch. I really love their relationship. It's really unique. Their relationship removed my skepticism where dogs and cats couldn't live together. They are just best friends.
Later on, I saw them change position, they were both lying on their back with their arms out. They were in this position and I just had to take a photo of them. They were in a position where they looked ready to dance the "Thriller" by Michael Jackson. I was just laughing at them and I showed the photos to my mom and siblings.
Later on that day, I was looking for Yoda. I asked my brother who was outside if he saw him. I was kinda scared because our door wasn't hooked and Yoda knows how to open the door. I was calling his name all over our house and checking the usual spots where he hangs out but I couldn't find him until I went out again, I saw him by our window. I didn't expect him to stay there. He was behind the curtain so I couldn't spot him. At least now I know another place where to find him.
During the night, my sister was dressing up Pierre. She put a headgear shaped as a shark on him. He just looks so cut on it. Though after a while he removed it himself. We tried putting it on Yoda, but we couldn't take a decent shot because he was running around our house. He was running around because he could hear the other cats outside.
Insect Updates
This is my ant colony situated in an aquarium. They used to stay on that blue formicarium and when I added that formicarium inside hoping that they would transfer to the aquarium with soil, they still decided to stay there to make it an extension of their nest. I don't know why but I like the hobby of ant keeping. It's really amusing to watch them dig tunnels, hunt their food, and take care of the colony.
If you look closely at all those white stuff, that's the eggs and larvae. You can see that most of them are full because of those tiny dots on their stomachs. You can also see that some are almost ants already. Ever since I transferred them I've never seen the queen already. But I know that she is alive because of all the eggs inside this chamber.
If you were curious why I was getting some macopas. It's to feed my Dubia Colony. If you're thinking why the heck do I have these cockroaches, its because they are used as feeders to some of our other pets in this house, especially my brother and cousin's tarantulas. They also get fed to my ants. If you look at the photo, they love it. They actually consumed that macopa overnight. If you look at them closely the fully winged ones are the males, you could even spot the female bringing out her egg( check the right side of the photo)
I noticed when I was opening the trays, the nymphs are abundant, which makes me really have. From a batch of 50 cockroaches, I was able to make a colony grow into hundreds. I prefer keeping Dubia's compared to the other species because they don't smell and they can't climb plastic.
This female dubia seemed to like it. The females are really precious to me because they produce offsprings. Whenever we feed, we usually feed the males. I'm supposed to sort out the males because they usually fight and kill each other, but I've been busy these past few days. Right now, my feeling is that I could own a lot of pets because I have something to feed them already.
Thanks for reading and Stay safe always!
