Memorization Techniques: Are they Effective?
As a student, one thing that every student wants is to have excellent memorization skills. Well, there is no doubt because a lot of teachers give several quizzes that are based on terms and definitions, of course, except in math that involves problems and applications, but still, there is a need to memorize the formulas.
So, in today's blog and newest entry of senyoritalks. I have gathered and organized some ways on how we can somehow improve our memorization skills so we can ace our quiz or exam. It is not a hundred percent guaranteed, but you know, we may actually do so with great determination, faith, and these things.
Begin to comprehend the fact that you can't go faster or longer at the same time. Simply reading the books or notes and storing some lessons and understanding based on what you've learned is an effective method for speeding up the process of memorization.
However, put in mind that trying to recall the material for a lengthy period of time is not the same as this. To help us remember them, we have to repeatedly review the notes. Try to make sense of what you just read. If you're still unsure about what you're reading, use a reference book or the Internet for assistance. Don't skimp on something you don't comprehend because being careless wouldn't lead to anything good.
After then, keep jotting down your thoughts. You can remember things after one or two or three tries, depending on your ability. Re-read and re-write the notes you have taken down after a day or two. Keep doing the same thing for a week or two after that. If you give it a go, you'll be amazed at the results. This is really effective so giveit a try.
When you are trying to concentrate on what you're reading, put your phone away. Don't bother checking your email or social media accounts for any updates. Keep your phone out of your reading room, please because sometimes, whether we want it or not, we get tempted to use our phones. So it is better for us to keep it away for a while when we are studying for something. But if it's an important matter or an emergncy, of course, you have to take it.
Also make an effort to focus on the subject at hand and disregard any distractions. While reading, turn off the music if it disturbs you. But suppose you like listening to music while reading. In that case, I prefer classical songs like of Mozart and some studying playlist songs that are available in Spotify, Youtube, or other platforms. Again, listening to music while studying is an option for some. As long as it doesn't interfere with your proficiency to concentrate, the decision is totally up to you.
Lastly, consistently revise your notes and learning materials. If you are looking for a time-saving solution, this one isn't it. For a longer length of time, though, it may be of great use. Besides, it is proven that if you are actively listening during class discussion and taking down notes, the more that you get better from keeping in your memory those information.
There is really no such thing as a shortcut when you really want to master some specific things. Put in mind that we really have to study hard and also pray for God's guidance. These ways I presented are just bonus things to do to make it more effective. So grab your book now, and start reading. Good luck!
Thank you for these techniques. I believe that techniques work as they are smarter way of studying. As others say, work smarter not harder.
