Nowadays, a significant number of people become sick. I am not exempt to this, as I have recently become ill. When you get sick, it costs a lot of money - you can't go to work, you have to pay hospital bills as well as medicine expenses, and if you have a child or children, you have to find someone to look after them while you recuperate. Indeed, the Filipino saying "mahal ang magkasakit" (being sick is expensive) holds true.
It's nearly hard, however, to avoid becoming sick at all.
We still become sick, no matter how well we take care of ourselves and our health, especially nowadays.
One of the things mentioned during a Zoom meeting I attended yesterday is very timely. It was discussed how we may maintain our health and avoid becoming ill. I wrote down notes while listening to the discussion because there are five really convenient and easy approaches that are discussed. I'm going to share what I learned from our meeting yesterday with you here.
Five Ways to be Healthier
As I previously stated, these methods are quite easy and simple, and they will not cost us very much compared when we become ill.
Always observe cleanliness and proper hygiene
Isn't it simple? But how do we go about doing it? Washing our hands on a regular basis is the first step toward maintaining cleanliness and proper hygiene.
“Proper and regular hand washing might aid in preventing infections, according to one of the leading hospitals in the United States.”
Why?
It's because bacteria can be spread by our hands. It is the most direct route for germs to enter our bodies, resulting in diarrhea, gastrointestinal issues, meningitis, and other illnesses. It is estimated that over one million children die each year from diarrhea caused by insufficient hand hygiene.
When should we wash our hands?
After using the restroom, dressing a wound, changing diapers, preparing foods, coughing, petting your pets, and holding and throwing out the trash, we should always wash our hands.
How to properly wash your hands?
There are five steps to proper washing of the hands.
To begin, wet your hands with running water rather than stagnant water.
Scrub your fingers, including your nails, with soap that has been lathered. It should be scrubbed thoroughly.
Third, make sure you complete the second step for a total of 20 seconds.
Fourth, give your hands a thorough rinsing with running water.
Finally, dry your hands on a dry and clean towel or paper towel rather than on your clothes.
Proper hand hygiene is basic right? But it can definitely save lives!
Use clean water
Modes:
Standard
When the water container is dirty, it can be a home for parasites which can cause diarrhea, cholera, typus and other bacteria and infections. How to avoid infections caused by dirty water? First, makes sure that the water you use for whatever purpose is clean. It may be for drinking, brushing the teeth, and cooking. Second, if you are sure that the water is contaminated, bring it to a boil first to kill the pathogenic bacteria. Third, make sure the water containers are clean. And lastly, if you are using a tool to fetch water from the container, make sure that it is also clean.
When the water container is contaminated, parasites can live there, causing diarrhea, cholera, typhus, and other diseases and infections.
How can you avoid diseases brought on by contaminated water?
First and foremost, be certain that the water you use is clean. It might be used for drinking, brushing one's teeth, or even cooking. Second, if the water is certain to be tainted, bring it to a boil to eliminate any pathogenic bacteria. Third, inspect the water containers for cleanliness. Finally, if you're retrieving water from a container using a tool, be sure it's clean as well.
Watch out what you eat.
To maintain a healthy physique, it is critical to consume a well-balanced diet. As just a necessity, we must exert control over what we consume and how much we eat. Consume high-fiber, high-protein foods, as well as fish and vegetables. Consuming a lot of sweets can lead to obesity, so drink plenty of water after eating something sweet and limit your sweet food intake. Limit your intake of solid fat foods and MSG as well. If you truly like msg, try replacing it with herbs & spices.
Finally, once you feel full, stop eating, no matter how much you still want to eat or how delicious the food is.
Food poisoning causes a lot of people to get sick, and some even die. To avoid contamination, wash fruits and vegetables before eating or consuming them. Foods that have gone bad should be thrown away.
Exercise
This seems simple, yet it's the most difficult thing to do. The majority of us only exercise when we feel that we are already overweight. However, exercise is beneficial for people of all ages and can be done even if you are not overweight. Exercise is essential for maintaining a healthy physique. It only takes thirty minutes to an hour per day to have a good night's sleep, avoid depression, and stay physically fit.
Have enough sleep
Getting adequate sleep is believed to help us improve our memory, have a balanced hormone, have a healthy heart, and avoid ailments.
Why not give these easy steps a try for a better life and a healthier body?
