Do you change your facial expression at the very thought of eating a lemon now?
The answer could say a lot more about your thoughts than about the real taste or smell of lemon. Christina Jarrett recently revealed this to us, posting a post on the Personology blog.
Do you think you are extroverted or introverted? The answer lies in how open you are in communicating with strangers, because based on how much you talk to other people, you can learn a lot about yourself. Maybe you like parties and having a good time, and maybe your favorite thing is to stay home and be alone?
The answer completely depends on how you use lemon, more precisely lemon juice. This is a very simple personality test and you can do it at home.
You need an ear stick to take some saliva from the tip of your tongue by holding for 20 seconds, then dripping five drops of lemon juice on your tongue and swallowing, then turn the other end of the stick and let it hang on your tongue with the help of a thread. . You will see if it will hang horizontally or will stretch to one side due to the weight in the place where the lemon juice was.
If your reaction to lemon juice makes that end of the stick heavier, it will mean that you are introverted, because you secrete more saliva. If the stick stays in balance, it will mean that you do not react much to lemon juice, which probably means that you are extroverted.
Introverts essentially react more intensely to stimuli such as bitter tastes, including lemon. Why is it so? This test takes us back to 1960 when the pioneers of the experiment, Hans Eysenck, and his wife, along with researcher Sybil Eysenck, used a similar method to examine how much saliva cotton would absorb.
Eysencks found that introverts experience more intense external stimuli, feel more pronounced, and withdraw into themselves due to unexpected attacks on their personality. Therefore, they are more stressed, they secrete saliva and in the end it is shown on the test with a stick.
Despite the fact that such personality characteristics are often caused by biological factors, but various situations that can happen to a person in life, there are allegations in his theory that introverts generally have higher levels of hormones that are responsible for excitement in life.
This test is not fully grounded and proven, but according to various experts, it is applied and considered valid, even in other situations, such as empathy and selfishness.Namely, judging by the data obtained on the basis of this test, it is possible to conclude that you are empathetic, if the result happens to you as it was in the case of extroversion. To obtain an even more objective and complete test, Florence Hagenmuller conducted an experiment in which she did the following among a group of subjects. He gave them all three balls of cotton wool they put in their mouths to measure the amount of saliva, and then they watched the videos. Some watched a man cut a lemon, and another took out colored balls and placed them on a table.
The conclusion was that people who watched the video with lemon produced more saliva, thus confirming the theory that people tend to mimic other people's reactions, by saying that when someone yawns automatically, you start yawning, and a similar thing happens. when you look at a man who will produce more saliva due to eating lemon.
According to the researchers, this test could be very useful in diagnosing autism, but also schizophrenia. Despite the fact that it seems too simple, next time a lemon could serve you for much more than making lemonade. It's worth a try, isn't it?
I don't eat sour fruit, it is wrong because I know how healthy it is, but when I see my four years old daughter to eat lemon without any reaction I try to think that something is wrong with me because it is impossible that she doesen't make grimases while eating it. She often asks me to buy her lemon instead of some sweets.
