after "The gate of hell", let take a look at 'blood lake' (I myself named it this;) ) another wonderful and creepy place on earth, shall we?
Lake Natron is a salt and alkaline lake located in Arusha Province in northern Tanzania. The lake is located near the border of Kenya. The special position of this lake is that water enters the lake but does not leave it. As a result, the water in the lake can only come out through steam. Over the years, the lake's water has evaporated and high mass of salt and other minerals have remained.
Lake Natron is home to only a few species of fish (Alcolapia latilabris), several models of algae, and a group of flamingos that feed on the same algae.
In 2011, a photographer named Nick Brandt traveled to East Africa on a tour. He thought Lake Natron was a great place for photography of wildlife, but after a trip he realized that the famous lake had dried up the animals and somehow seemed to have turned them into rocks.
This photographer put the birds in situations as if they were alive and published them in an interesting collection. But he said, "The condition of the birds has not changed and we just put them on the branches and other places and photographed them."
The natives consider this lake cursed and mysterious and are not willing to swim in it at all. Despite some media reports, the animals in the lake do not easily turn to stone, Most of the year, the water temperature of the lake is between 40 and 60 degrees Celsius. Also, natron water contains various minerals. The presence of these factors together made this area not a suitable environment for animals to live.
The water of this lake is supplied by the Ivazu Niroo river, and the water of this river is also full of minerals, and during its movement towards Natron, it passes through several hot springs. According to these interpretations, when water reaches Lake Natron, it has a high temperature and the presence of salt in it makes the water look like a molten substance. Unfortunately, birds that enter to swim or use natron water are burned or poisoned.
The color of this lake and also the existence of stoned animals in there enforce me to name this lake, "BLOOD LAKE".
