Social media is there to grab your attention and most people spend a significant amount of time on social media. Facebook makes its move to grab people's attention with a view to staying ahead of the curve. Whenever there is any shift in social networking trends, the same company appears there.

Whether it's acquiring WhatsApp, attempting to buy Snapchat, or copying its feature and implementing it on Instagram. It's been one year since Facebook changed its name to Meta in order to capture the upcoming trends.

But did Mark Zuckerberg miss a giant shift in social networking? He admits to sort of missing a giant shift in how people discover content that led TikTok to where it is today.

You usually see content that you follow or who is on your friend list. *Of course, you also see ads.* But sometimes people just want to see the best content. It does not matter who makes that content. When you find that content, you love to share that and talk about it.

The algorithm shows you the content that is best for you. It is assumed that TikTok is just a short form of YouTube. The way TikTok is growing and getting attention, it is a big competitor to Facebook. Meta develops AI that will suggest a wide range of content including short videos, photos, and text.

Whatever the big giant company does, it makes them richer and they will always be in control. They can edit, modify or remove users' content. People want to have ownership of what they share. The blockchain-based decentralized platform can ensure ownership and freedom.

Users might have a false sense of ownership and control while they are the ones holding the key. We will also see a big shift in social networking when people value their freedom, ownership, and control more than anything. No one can censor that.

We are moving toward Web 3.0. From this point, there is no turning back and going to the old system of Web 2.0. Will big companies overlook their interest and hand over it to the users?

I think blockchain-based decentralized platforms are the solution. So what do you think? Please feel free to leave your comments. Thank you for reading this post. That's it for now. I'll be back with another post.

They are showing content that is best regardless of who created that content. A new user can get thousands of views and get the popularity of his content.
