I have tried making 'Butterfly pea Tea' with my garden flowers.

Recently there's a huge hype about this tea. Not only because of the health benefits but mostly because of the vibrant blue color. By adding a few drops of lemon with the tea it turns from blue to purple!

I have a blue butterfly pea plant on my balcony and thought why don't I try this at home.

I wouldn't say I'm a big fan of herbal tea. But this tea somehow felt like worth trying. Because it gives a fresh not like other herbal teas. I wish I had a lot of flowers on my plant to make this every day.

Let me share the process.

Here are some flowers from my garden. You may know that they only bloom for a day, so keeping them fresh to make tea was quite hard for me.

But I found a clever way. I put the flowers in a water bowl and they stay pretty fresh till the next day. I'm not sure if this affects the nutritional value of the flower.

Before sharing my process, let's take a look at the health benefits of Butterfly Pea Tea.

  • It promotes graceful aging.

  • Provides antioxidant support.

  • This tea contains anthocyanins.

  • Supports glowing skin.

  • Contains versatile catechins.

  • Potential cognitive support.

  • Eases occasional stress.

There are so many! I wish I can try this more often.

The process is very simple. Boil a cup of water and add the extract of the flower. I use my fingers to extract the juice because the flowers are very tinder. I also added a cube of sugar, you can skip this if you want.

As I have said, by adding a few drops of lemon the tea changes its color. But as I only managed to add two flowers so it didn't come out as colorful as I thought. So adding the lemon juice only enhanced the flavor didn't change the color.

I know, maybe my process wouldn't give me the health benefits. It was a kinda experiment I would say. But I have to approve I have scented the smell/got the taste of the flowers and it was refreshing.

I would try to collect some more flowers for a few days and would try this again.

If you have a butterfly pea flower at home or some places offer this tea, I would highly recommend trying it often.

Butterfly blue pea flower has lots of health benefits though I don't like how it tastes. I have both blue and white in my garden so I just tried once.

Good to hear that. But nothing can replace the original tea though.

It will be a wonder blend and taste. I never try any flower in tea except dry roses which was not a good experience. Let me check this one !

It's nothing extraordinary, very flat in taste. But you can try it for fun.
