Last year was a big challenge for the Philippines Football League sponsored by Qatar Airways. It was supposed to be in March 2020 when the pandemic hit the country, but it was pushed through on October 28, 2020. This year's season they'll kick off with the Copa Paulino Alcantara this April before the FIFA window in June, and possibly it might be the same setting from last year's event.
It might be a bubble-protected environment again since the new variant has now reached the country, or there would be any changes if fans will be allowed to enter and watch the stadium. With United City FC as the league champions last year, this season the former busmen (Ceres-Negros FC, now United City FC) will defend the Copa title against 4 other clubs: Kaya FC-Iloilo, Mendiola FC 1991, Maharlika Manila FC, and Stallions Laguna FC. All clubs are looking forward to the start of the tournament so it will give them time for their players to get into fitness once the Copa gets the green light.
