Mung bean loly ice, my favorite ice when I was child
People of Indonesia, especially in island of Java, must have known this legendary snack. Who doesn't know ice lolly? This fresh drink wrapped in small elongated plastic is always synonymous with West Java, because West Java area has a folk song entitled "ice lolly" but actually, ice lolly is spread all over Indonesia.
Taste is sweet and fresh, it turns out that this favorite snack for children has existed since the 1950s, you could say it started going viral after Indonesia's independence. When I was a child, I also often enjoyed this snack, at the beginning of its appearance, ice lolly was also popular with two distinctive flavors, namely green beans and young coconut. However, now it has grown and has many flavors such as chocolate, strawberry, melon and many more.
This snack is usually sold by walking around using a large ice thermos. Sweet taste, a little touch of savory and refreshing and the soft texture makes many children love ice lolly. This ice was very viral when I was a child in the 90s. However, it has slowly started to lose its fame since foreign investment was legalized in our country.
Now that big ice cream companies from abroad have eliminated ice cream in Indonesia, I'm sure today's millennial children are very difficult to find ice cream snacks like this.
I got this mung bean flavored ice lolly because my older sister made this ice lolly by herself. She also often makes traditional snacks and distributes them to me, she often reminisces with childhood snacks that she used to often enjoy.
Well, indeed, enjoying childhood snacks can remind us of our beautiful childhood without contamination of fast food, and we really had to struggle to be able to enjoy snacks when we were children, unlike children today. They are very spoiled with fast food and modern snacks, most of which are not good for their health.
