Keep our river clean

Rivers are one type of natural resource in human environment. Rivers are useful for many things, from being a source of water for living creatures in vicinity to being a habitat for animals and plants. For humans, rivers can be used as irrigation for rice fields, power plants, and a place to earn a living.

Water is a renewable natural resource, so water must be kept clean and sustainable. This is done so that we do not experience a clean water crisis to a drought. Then, how to maintain the sustainability of the river.

• Not Polluting the River

River water pollution is caused by irresponsible human activities. Water pollution is entry of foreign substances such as chemicals into water. Usually these chemicals come from factory waste or agricultural waste that can damage aquatic ecosystem.

Disposing of garbage carelessly will also pollute river water. All types of garbage and waste should not be dumped in the river because it will disrupt river ecosystem. Water pollution that occurs due to waste dumped carelessly into rivers and ditches can cause pollution.

• Preserving Forests and Plants

Forests located around rivers or upstream of rivers, have an important role for river sustainability. Trees and plants in upper reaches of this river can help prevent erosion.

Erosion can bring soil, sand, rocks, and so on along with water and make depth of river decrease. If river gets shallower, river water will decrease in volume, and plants and animals that live in river can also be disturbed.
