Growing a beard is a trend that has many benefits
Trend of growing a beard has become increasingly popular lately. However, not infrequently many men fail after trying hard to grow their beards. Beards are hair that grows in area around chin, cheeks, and neck of men. Some Indonesians call it Brewok.
This facial hair will grow in men after puberty until adulthood. Function of beard in men is often judged as an aesthetic that enhances appearance alone. Generally, beards are also associated as a symbol of masculinity, wisdom, and social status in society. However, it turns out that beards have health benefits.
Protects facial skin from sun damage, this really helps reduce the risk of developing skin cancer.
Helps filter dust, and harmful bacteria that enter respiratory system.
Keeping face warm, especially for people who live in colder climates.
However, some other men also choose to shave their beards. This is because bearded people are considered untidy and have poor hygiene.
Male facial hair, including beards and mustaches, grows during puberty. This will be marked by growth of a few strands of hair before rest grows. Usually, most men have beards by age of 18 or 19. However, there are also those who have it until middle to end age of 20 years or more.
There are several factors that influence growth of a man's beard, of which two most decisive are hormones and heredity.
Hormone
Facial hair growth is largely influenced by testosterone levels in body. Male testosterone production generally increases during puberty.
Men with low testosterone levels will certainly find it more difficult to grow a beard. However, even men with normal testosterone levels may also have difficulty growing their facial hair. This could be due to body's different sensitivity and reaction to this hormone.
Heredity
Beards in some men may grow less even though testosterone levels are considered normal. This is mainly influenced by heredity, genetics, and ethnicity. To see an opportunity to have thick facial hair, try to pay attention to beards that belonged to your mother's father and grandfather.
Everyone inherits genes from both parents. Each gene will cause a different reaction to the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which regulates hair growth. DHT is a derivative of androgen hormone (testosterone) which regulates male characteristics.
Beard will grow thick when genes in body are sensitive to hormones. On other hand, facial hair will grow thinner if your body is not sensitive.
So how? Which man are you? Beard keeper or prefer to shave beard even though it grows thick, everyone must have their own reasons, especially for cleanliness and body health. All options are definitely the best.
Thank you for reading to the end, hopefully it can add to your insight!
People who have beards are famous for people who have authority, but for certain people to see people who have beards are dirty people, even though that assumption is not true, because with beards we can filter bacteria that will enter the mouth.
