Awesome Chinese New Year decorations at Pavilion Bukit Jalil, a new mall in town. Glad that we could make a short visit to here since we are not staying at this part of the city. Many shops are not opened yet, and most people come here for hanging out as well as to take photos with the beautiful deco. Red red and red everywhere.
We are driving upnorth (about 5-hour drive) to meet my parents and siblings. So excited to reunite with them for Chinese New Year. But first, let's have a toilet break and lunch break. Here we were at a reststop, which is surprisingly huge with a lot of food and a mall called Agromall. Husband had his 'nasi kandar' while I enjoyed my Malay economy mixed rice. Yummy and energised.
Yuhoo!!! Bliss bliss bliss.❤️❤️❤️ I finally get to meet my parents and sister and brother and families, nieces and nephew. And get to eat sumptuous meal with them. Sometimes, the people and atmosphere make the food taste better. Gonna spend precious moments with them these few days. Another brother is coming and we shall take group photo.
The cousins having super great time together. I remembered when I was young, I always looked forward to festive season so that I could play whole day with cousins. Now it is their turn. Play, children, just play all out. Be jovial. Be merry! ❤️
We who are from Kuala Lumpur but never been to KL Tower, and here we were excited to visit Alor Star Tower. 😂🗼. It was a great experience to stand way up above the ground on the glass floor, looking down, although I am not scared of height, still I felt some slight 'uneasiness' in the body, as though the gravity was about to pull you down.
Steamboat today for easy preps and also something different from the usual dishes. The soup was made by using Haidilao mushroom one, and the ingredients added more sweetness and tastiness to the overall. Most important, we all happy happy eating.
Children can easily click with one another. The cousins actually had not met one another for years but still immediately became great friends. They enjoyed playing pretend together, mobile games together, eat and laugh together. Everything together. For the first time in my life, I had some quietness in terms of no one keeps calling me "mummy" this and "mummy" that. 😁 I truly enjoy this time with my family. Last day today at my sister's house, and I am going to miss them so…
My last meal with parents. My mum woke up early to buy ingredients and started cooking before 10am. Here were the beautiful dishes by her cooked with lots of love. Sumptuous meal and super delicious. I am going to miss them alot alot. We had: vinegar pork trotter, roasted chicken, lotus peanut soup, mustard greens sweet sour spicy, steamed fish with ginger garlic, stir fry french beans with eggs. Yums!
The biggest fried egg ever. Yummy and delicious. 😂 Went for a walk at Wonderfood Museum Penang. I love museum like this where we can learn so much about Malaysian food and our cultures. If you are Penang, do come here for a visit before you explore all the food. You will not regret.
Beach view and amazing pool for these few days to celebrate eldest son birthday. He loves the pool and beach, so we want this to be a great memory as he is entering eleven years old. Really love the pools here which cover baby pool, toddler pool, adult pools (1.25m and 1.5m) and extra deep pool 4metre. As well as meditation pool and mini water park and mini playground. I am glad people are following the SOP and the pools and beach are not crowded as well.
Time to walk around to find some beautiful wall art at Penang. I find this simple and appealing. Such a huge piece of art. 💜❤️
After all the Chinese food during Chinese New Year, it is time for 'mamak' food - a must have if you are a Malaysian, 'roti canai' and mine always goes with added egg and onions, we called 'roti telur bawang' with three types of sauce; chilli sambal, lentil curry and fish curry. So so yummy! Paired well with my 'teh tarik halia'.
Let's eat something soupy such as 'pan mee' soup, which is flat egg noodles served in delicious savoury anchovy broth, garnished with dried anchovies, minced pork, vegetables, mushrooms and black fungus. I don't feel like drinking coffee as I just recovered from indigestion, so a warm honey lemon was super soothing. Yums!
The Do-Re-Mi whom I love dearly. Stand up tall on the rock and always remember we stand on the Rock of Salvation. We are rooted in love. ❤️❤️❤️
A nearby restaurant called Me'nate Steak house has 50% discount of their pasta menu for a selected days and time. Since all of us felt like eating pasta, and they have delicious pasta, off we went. As usual, I chose the aglio olio version, this time with smoked duck, the sons choose their beef bolognese and plain carbonara, the hubs chose mamamia beef pasta. Even at discounted price, they didn't reduce the amount. Oh yes, we ordered macaroons too! And first time I ate crispy…
On Valentine's Night, we decided to celebrate together with the boys since it was to celebrate love❤️💖💙💚. We had couple of hours together at Hometown Hainan Coffee at our favourite mall, we talked, played our gadget, they also did some revision with my husband while I went for a little shopping. I ordered my favourite dish here, Hainanese Chicken Rice. So delicious (most food are delicious to me as I am like that). And we also ordered prata with curry chicken as our snacks…
Had yummy 'zha jiang mian' the other night with family. The word 'zha jiang mian' is in Chinese language, meaning... Zha=fried Jiang=sauce Mian=noodle The most important part of this dish is the 'zha jiang' sauce made from fermented soybean paste being fried/stir fry with minced pork (or beef). Usually, the noodles comes with generous amount of shredded carrots and cucumbers, when the whole thing mixed together, it is so appetizing, every mouthful is satisfying. Both my…
At first glance, I really see two people in there. 😂 What about you? #forfun #random
Sometimes we love just 'satay' and 'nasi impit' for our meal. 'Satay' is chunks of meat on wooden skewer, grilled or BBQ to perfection. This time, we ordered three types of meats; chicken, beef and lamb. 'Nasi impit' is rice compressed to cubes. The dipping sauce is a must, special spicy sauce with peanuts in it. Not forgetting to eat satay and the cube rice with cucumbers and raw onion! Appetizing! =)
I miss my parents so much. My mum was tested covid19 positive on Monday, with mild symptoms such as slight fever, minor cough and sore throat. Although mild, I still do worry about them. How I wish I am there to take care of her. Praying she gets well soon also praying my dad will be healthy and won't get it. So far he is tested negative. Photo taken last year when they were here for a short visit.
A photo we took at Wonderfood Museum. I really think he deserves the title - The Chef of the Year. He seldom cooks nowadays but when he does, all of us will be drooling. 🤤 And he cooks very delicious Western food. #funshot
After 100% recovering from indigestion, I was craving for curry. So while waiting for the boys' drumclass to be done, I got my cravings satisfied. Fish curry, plus cabbage stir fry with turmeric and mustard seed and fried squid. The portion was big eventhough I asked for half a plate of rice. Nevertheless, I finished them up. Geee.... Very delicious. A cup of hot milk tea too. Slurp!
This was taken on December 2020 when the eldest out of the blue started a YouTube channel called Wong Channel. Me, being supportive mum, bought them yellow Tshirts, because Wong, our surname also means yellow colour (we are not minions though 😂) and some Tshirts stickers for them to stick on. Putting it up here because my eldest son had outgrew his tee and couldn't wear it anymore. Ahhh, they looked so cute back then. Indeed little humans.
Time for another appointment for the little champion. This time will be at surgical department, to check whether his feeding tube site is alright and everything else in between. I am sure they will have the same concern of his weight plateau-ing and sometimes dropping..but we know we are trying our best. ❤️ We couldn't be more proud of this little champ!
When I was young, I always had friends who love to ask me questions which I couldn't answer, especially nonsense questions, because they loved to see my unanswerable face or faces which kept saying the wrong answer. For example, what do you call a pig who does karate? Answer: Pork chop. What duh? 🙄 I think that was how I picked up my sense of nonsenseness. From my bunch of friends and relatives. Anyway, I am to post the recent food that my husband had been eating. Pork chop.…
This dish was actually the last we ordered after our full lunch, believe it, yes, I still had space for chicken feet eventhough I was full. I LOVE IT!!! I never cooked this at home because to me, it involved a lot of steps, I saw my mom did it before. From thoroughly patiently clean those feet, snip off the nails, brine awhile in salt water, marinade them with basic soy sauce, fried them, then soak them, marinade them with sauces and herbs, steamed them, if want extra taste,…
Before our trip to Penang, we coincidently saw this T-shirt at FOS. Of course I quickly bought it without thinking much. It became my collection and I wanted to hunt other designs of this Tshirt series on Malaysia's food. The T-shirt displays the food called 'Assam Laksa', a popular dish at Penang, you must try if you are there. Its taste is one of a kind - sourish yet spicy, tangy, aromatic, savoury. All mix into a bowl. I love the soup made from fish broth, plus other…
We had yummy food again from our aunt on Saturday. As usual, her signature steamed minced pork with some sesame oil and salted fish, pan fry chicken chop with fried prawns, cherry tomatoes and spinach soup with fishballs. Giving thanks for great aunt and grateful for food on the table.
