We are just too busy to be busy
Have you ever been greeted with this funny reply over the phone, at home, at your workplace, or in the neighborhood. "I am busy now, I will get back to you when I am done." Sometimes they will never get back to you unless you remind them.
I do this almost every day, and it's becoming a habit. This morning, I decided to have a quiet time alone in my room trying to reflect back on how busy I have become that I absent myself from the platform for a whole day. Sometimes I am just doing nothing. Everyone has that daily routines that keeps them busy the whole day. I mean everyone is just too busy to be busy.
Looking at the direction of academics, students are just busy studying hard day and night just to earn themselves the necessary certificates, and all the degrees that will add a plus to their profile after graduation. All this years of being busy is just for a day they will stand before a panel to be interviewed for an industrial post. But does degrees, and certificates really matter when it comes it industrial posts. Skills are the most looked out for when it comes to this.
There's this guy I have been talking with on Facebook, he is a blogger. Since he is not fortunate enough to get himself a good job, he settles on blogging. That's where he get the funds to pay his bills. We only talk on Sundays, he spends 6 days straight blogging and at the same time earning. He has been doing this for the past seven years, and he doesn't seem to take a break. Just imagine he invests another fifteen more years in blogging, a total of twenty-one years. Sleepless nights and busy days, just to earn and make a living.
My step-grandma will struggle to put her stool outside the house, sit on it and become busy. Busy doing nothing and busy doing everything. She will be lost in hers thoughts, regretting the day she was born. This becomes her daily routine, that when you ask her for something whenever she's in such mood, she will shout at you allow her be that she busy. Busy doing what!! Thinking of something that will never happen again.
Some women in our local markets, will put themselves under the sun, and rain just so the can sell their goods and save some money for future plans. Some of them will end up sick, mostly have high blood pressure and the rest. The busy lifestyle and those days they spent under the sun and rain gifted them that.
We all have that thing that is making us look so busy. Making plans for the future isn't a bad idea, but have you thought of the fact that we have over hyped it? We are sacrificing the moments we have now just for tomorrow, which we are not even sure will come. Okay, wait for a moment. What will become of you if you have just today to live, will you still be too busy for nothing, or for everything? Will you still go on to do those things that were not important for that moment? We have lost it, we are busy doing the thing we are not suppose to do. Because of our busy lifestyle, we have lost the trust people had in us, relationships have died, happiness doesn't exist in our dictionary, and what not.
Seat back and ask yourself again... Should I continue this way?
Life is so unpredictable, we never know what tomorrow could bring so we must appreciate the things that we have right now, it's okay if we are busy doing things in our life but of course never forget to live your life while busy surviving.
