An institution that has persisted for thousands of years, mutating in form and composition. The true enigma that encloses nature: the network of love within the family.
Humans are born, develop, live and die in the family institution, and we tend to look strange to those who think otherwise. This is not due to issues of intolerance or ideals, it is that we are simply beings whose only engine is love. As cheesy as it may sound, love is what allows human beings to continue in their day to day; love is the only thing that stops us from there and keeps us here. Without it, we would be a set of matter wandering in space waiting until the moment when we stop thinking and feeling.
Love is the engine of life, but on an individual level, which eventually translates to a general level. Family is one of the many results of love; an institution where people are formed and deformed, accompanied by other people with whom psycho-affective relationships are established that contribute to the psychological and cognitive development of individuals, and mold them as human beings so that they achieve, or at least try, to live in society and coexist with its environment.
It is through this sacred institution that humanity achieves its constant advance: not that of technology and comforts, but the advance that truly matters, that of achieving a society that is more tolerant every day of the other, where coexistence is not based in debauchery and permissiveness or where tolerance does not exist, but in true freedom, a network of capacity for action and absolute responsibility, a network that produces the society to which we all aim.
But the problem arises when we look for a definition, since certain institutions and movements have appropriated the name to make political use and pour their ideas into it. The family is not more -and this i belive is its true and only definition- than a group of people, individually chosen by each one of us, with whom we decide to establish close ties whose cradle is, in essence, pure love. And that is why the personal history of each one and the mistakes that we can make are always less than our relationship with our family since love in family is in its purest and brightest state, and manages to subdue any situation before it.
That is why those who truly seek to subdue society will go after the family: establishing fixed parameters and ornate definitions, giving speeches about its composition and giving opinions on the lives of others. People without a life of their own who grew up without an iota of love.
Reality is always simpler than it is posed, and the family is no exception
