What is mental health?

Mental health is a state of well being where a person possess a very strong positive thoughts where the mind functions well and knows exactly his / her capabilities to excell well in his / her life.

- mental health affects how we feel, act and think.

Mentally healthy means:

- having confident in him / herself

- feeling good about him / herself

- being able to manage and express easily personal emotions

- being able to build and maintain healthy relationships with others.

- easily copes to everything

But do you remember the last time you felt stressed, worried, afraid, sad, scared or you just can not understand the way you feel?, These emotions are just normal but when these feelings became severe that you can not function well daily, then it might develop in to a mental health problem. If you experience this and feels like it is leading to mental health illness, remember that YOU ARE NOT ALONE, even if you feel you are. You maybe are suffering from mental illness but let me remind you that it is not only you who undergoes this kind of situation.

What is mental illness?

Mental illness is a brain function disorders that causes a person not to function well. It can affect anyone regardless of age, gender, social status etc.

Symptoms that you are undergoing mental health illness:

1. Feeling depressed more than two weeks

- It is normal to be sad for sometimes and gets better along after a few moments but if it was more than two weeks, then you might be suffering from depression.

2. Having mood swings but does not know the reason why

- It is normal that you changes your mood from time to time, considered normal if positive moods turns to negative but when negative moods then turned into more negative one, then you might be also suffering from mental illness especially when the mood has nothing to do with what is going on in your life.

3.Worries and anxiety have gotten out of control

- Some examples of anxiety are insomia ( difficulty in sleeping), easily get irritated and wanting to be alone.

4. Hallucinations and delusions

- A person starts to imagine things that are not ususlly present. Starts to hear voices that is not also really their. He / she also starts to talk to his / her own self.

5. Having difficulties dealing with your normal life

- A person can not function well because a lot of things are running in their minds. A person is physically present but absent minded.

6. Sleeping too much or too little

- Best way to skip so that he / she would not feel the way he / she feels is through sleeping, some people also takes too much sleeping pills for longer sleeps. On the other hand, some people have difficulties to get sleep due on too much overthinking. When the mind has a lot of things running there, then a person will really have a hard times in getting sleep.

7. Too much intakes of alcohol

- Another way to skip reality is drinking alcohol. They say, when a person is drinking alcohol, this is one way for them to forget their problems.

8. Extreme anger outbursts

- A person easily gets irritated causes him / her to get angry too fast, even in small things.

9. Thinking about harming yourself

-  A person starts to think about destroying or ending his / her own life. A person starts to become suicidal.

10. Losing interest on little things

-  Starts to lose excitement on things that matters to you due to overload stress in your life.

11. Easilly gets overwhelmed

- feeling mentally overwhelmed could be an internal reaction to excessive outiside stress.

12. Always wanting to be alone

- A person does not feel like socializing that much anymore. And feels like it is just exhausting to be in the crowd.

If those that have mentioned above are not treated, then it will last long and might increased the person's disability. Early treatment means effective treatment.

Tips on how of have Mental Health Wellness

1. Focus on the positive side. Think about the solutions instead of the problems.

2. Maintain physical health

- Be physically healthy by exercising, going outside, working out and eating healthy foods. Get also enough sleep.

3. Practice Gratitude

- Always say "Thank you" for the things you are thankful for.

4. Socialize

Surround yourself with others to have a better mood and start to forget about your problems.

5. Get professional help

There are treatments to cure these mental illness but only some undergoes treatments.

Reasons why other people do not want to undergo treatments

1. Lack of Understanding

- lack of understanding of mental health problems

2. Fear

Fear in disclosing if what are they going through. Does not want to be judged by others.

3. Stigma

- too afraid of seeking help thinking that no one will understand them and thinking that they will only be judged by anyone which might contribute to lower his / her self-esteem
