We are now experiencing the most important use of technology in our lives, and also the internet that helps us to access our technology.
Here are some of the advantages of online learning:
Online learning offers flexibility
You can study anytime you want. You can study wearing anything you want (some school preferred wearing uniforms). You can study with whomever you want. Online learning gives us the flexibility to spend time with family and friends. You still have to complete the work but for many students whose caring for others or their siblings, those healths who prevent them from making It to campus on a regular basis. This method of online learning can't be beaten.
Online learning is convenient
The biggest advantage of online learning is that your classroom and prof/teacher are available 24 hours a day. The only excuse for missing class is not getting online. Otherwise, everything is available to you. You can chat with fellow students and study anytime you want. You can review assignments, get announcements, access notes, take practice quizzes, and discuss questions. There is no due date, you make your own schedule for completing the requirement.
Online learning has financial benefits
Although you may think that buying a computer/cellphone and Internet access is pretty expensive, consider what it could cost you for your everyday transportation. Consider the costs of eating outside versus eating at home. Consider all your expenses after that year. These are very tangible benefits of having access to education at home.
Online learning offers more individual attention
You have a direct pipeline to the prof/teacher via e-mail, you can get a direct answer. Many students aren't comfortable asking questions in front of the class because of fear and feeling stupid. The internet eliminates that fear (hopefully, if you're comfortable with your prof/teacher). Always and many times you think of a question after class and trying to ask it but you have fear. You can send an e-mail directly to your prof/teacher. Your opportunity to learn is enhanced.
And here are some of the disadvantages of online learning:
Online learning requires you to be responsible for your own learning
Only yourself is responsible for your learning, I can't force it on you, I can make your study. The courage and desire to pursue your dreams must be yours. You might not take responsibility for your studies this will be a great loss for you. You might get way behind and never catch up.
Online learning offers more work/tasks to do
It typically requires a greater amount of reading and assignments than traditional classes. Also requires to create more activity using technology (computer/cellphone) to be creative and be an active learner.
Technological issues/Technical problems are inevitable
We don't only mean the stability of Wifi or mobile data connection at home. We're also referring to the devices involved for online classes: cellphone, laptop (or computer) headset, speakers, etc. Sometimes even we think that we're good to go, things start to get complicated during the communication process. The Wifi becomes weak or out of signal and gets laggy, or there are other possibilities that out devices just start to malfunction.
Not all students can go online
This is the most difficult thing for those who do not have a device or can't afford to buy for the set-up for online classes. The fact that all students are not the same, consideration should be placed on those who can and those who can't. Consider that some students rely on their limited data allocation. Some only borrow devices.
true... but I think it lowers self confidence, as you have said some students are afraid to asked their teachers/professors what they need to ask but that is what they need to build up, to be able to voice out their thoughts.. It helps them to be self reliant, innovative and sometimes improvise (finding ways to learn)
