Choices. Everyday we make tons of choices. Some small and inconsequential while others are so big that they have the power to change a person or many people's lives in an instant. This is a tale of a guy that just like any of us, faces a lot of choices every single day.
Just like any other day Josh woke up feeling tired and reluctant to get up. But he powered his way out of his bed because he's got to go to his day job. He is working as a waiter in a fancy restaurant downtown.
With just a little to no motivation he went to fix himself in the bathroom, went into his closet and grabbed the first shirt he could land his hand on. It was just a plain red t-shirt. He shrugged of the plain design and decided to just wear it.
He liked walking to work because aside from it was his commute this gave him a bit of exercise and a chance to look around town. Looking at the outside world provided him with a much needed peace of mind.
As he was approaching a corner, he stopped and his attention was caught by the video playing on a TV set on display on an electronic store. It was Blackpink's new music video. Though he would not admit it to anyone else, he's been a huge fan of the Korean Pop group. He has a huge fanciful crush on Lisa.
He waited for the video to finish before he started moving again. As he tried to walk, his foot hit a sling bag lying on the ground. He crouched down and picked it up. As soon as his hand were on the strap of the bag, he was surrounded by cops. He was shocked and confused. He picked up the bag and the men are shouting at him to raise his hands up.
An old lady accompanied by a cop approached him.
"Is that the guy who took your purse?" the officer asked the lady.
The old woman squinted and answered readily, "yes, that's him. The guy with the red shirt."
All the blood seemed to have left Josh's veins, he was pale and white as snow melting on a summer's day. Before he even comprehend what was going on, he was cuffed, arrested and on the back of the cop car.
It took a couple of hours in the interview room and in the holding cell before they were able to sort out the confusion and the mistaken identity. With the massive delay the proceedings have caused he was late in coming to his work. And with that, he was fired on the spot. It was his third tardiness for the week.
With his pay for the week he was sent home and he went home. He decided to grab a beer and sit on the park to cool his head. Whatever was happening to him today, he couldn't believe it. It seemed like he was dreaming or something.
As he was drinking, a man sat beside him on the bench. Josh nodded towards him without really paying attention to the guy. But as luck would have it, the guy was really paying attention to him.
"Don't make any sudden move. I have a gun pointed at you. Give me all your money. Give me everything you have." he said in a low creepy voice.
He was not surprised nor shocked. Josh was calm and composed. Maybe it's because he was already surprised earlier with all the cops pointing their guns at him that a single gun now seemed to amount to nothing. It was just his lucky day. He abided by the man's demands and he was left with nothing at all. Even the beer he was drinking was taken by the stranger.
Josh shook his head in disbelief.
He went home and laid on his bed contemplating what a horrible day it has been. As he thought back to what incidents that have transpired they all started with just a single choice. His choice of shirt. A single choice that seemed inconsequential changed his life in a moment. He took the shirt off and went to the kitchen. He then fired up the stove and placed the shirt over the fire.
As the shirt caught on fire he quickly removed it from the fire but hit the bottle of cooking oil in the motion. The oil was spilt and made the flame worse. In a quick jiff his whole kitchen was on fire and it was beyond the reach of salvation from his fire extinguisher.
A few minutes later, the firemen arrived and his house was reduced to ashes. He dropped down to his knees and was just broken down. All of that, because of his choice of wardrobe.
Hey there!
Choices! They're everywhere. We make hundreds of it every single day. We won't know how each of them will impact our lives so in every single chance a choice should be made, always keep in mind that a single choice has a potential to be a life changer.
I hope you're okay and as always...
Cheers!!!
