In a previous article I published, I have shared my humble beginnings in Read.Cash and Noise.cash and how I got started in earning and using bitcoin cash as a supplement to my usual salary. Today, as I was roaming around this platform, bouncing from one article to another and visiting the communities I have joined there was a sudden realization that hit me like a lighting struck on the back of my neck. It was sudden, it was enLIGHTENING and it was really eye opening.
As we all know a whole day here in our planet is consisted by 24 hours, on average. Those 24 hours are divided into minutes and minutes can also be broken down into seconds. No matter how you want to measure it, the essence of time is constant. It goes on. Every tick of the old forsaken clock is another moment lost. It's another precious asset you can't earn back. It's another piece of your life gone forever and you can never take it back.
"Time is your most expensive investment."
I am part of the working class, the social normies. Some people also call us corporate slaves or zombies. Every single day we work certain length of time to earn money. Some work for eight hours straight, some work in the middle of the night so late. Some of us even work from dusk till dawn. And those earnings at the middle and end of the month goes to the bills we accrued over time. Those bills are some kind of proof that we need money to live a life a bit worth living. They may be for utilities that is necessary for a convenient life such as electricity, water and/or rent. They may be for groceries and other consumable commodities. Some may also be for different privileges such as internet connection or mobile plans. Or if you are just like me, some of them may seem to be unneeded luxuries. No matter what the bills are for, they are part of a really tiring cycle of work-life cycle. A cycle that most of us can only break when we are too old to enjoy the freedom of life or when we're dead.
From the early stages of my working career, I have come to realize that the wage I enjoy every cut off is not a payment for the amount of work I have done, not a payment for the skills and knowledge I have shared but it is a payment for the time I spent working for a certain entity. Most of us are paid by the hour, our value in a company is computed in the hourly rate.
That being said, I treat that my working hours, including the time it takes me to prepare for work and the time it takes for me to commute, my investment. All of my free time were just spent for self entertainment and satisfaction. (Wait, is it just me or am I really hearing it wrong?)
In the past, my activities during my free time is a pretty diverse collection. I watched a lot of shows, movies and anime. I played basketball games both virtual and in real life. I sometimes take the time to jog around and to exercise a bit. I tried biking. I also read books. But lately I realized that I was not doing so much lately. It may be due to the recent pandemic or maybe I just gotten a lot lazier. All the things I am doing during my free time nowadays can easily be summarized into a simple graph.
As you can see, a large amount of my free time is dedicated for gaming. This is still divided into mobile gaming and console gaming. But no matter what platform it is, I always prefer to play basketball related games. On console, my go-to game is NBA. On mobile, recently I am hooked with game Slam Dunk, which is an adaptation of the 90's classic anime with the same title.
My online screen time is divided to several social networking sites and forums. I will not divulge any more information about the rooms I am talking about for self preservation purposes (lol). I find time to chat with a few friends to catch up. I only have a handful of friends so it's not quite time consuming, though I really miss hanging out with the guys. My watching time is pretty much divided with TV shows and anime.
Looking at how I managed to spend my time in the past, I can see nothing but expense. Expense. Nothing but expense. Obviously the console and the game amounts to a huge expense. The online features of the game are of different expense. On mobile, I also cashed in several hundreds of our fiat currency to buy some in-game materials.
Given that I am not a big spender when it comes to games, I sometimes feel that spending real money on them is such a waste, but still some things in the game you need to buy for you to be on par with other players. Even my watching time is costing me much. Hello electricity and hello Netflix subscription. Also, hello internet connection. Having a stable internet connection in this country is also pretty costly when compared to other countries. When you sum up all those expenses, it's somehow a big chunk of my salary and the most noteworthy thing about it is, it does not have any return. Well except for the pleasure they bring to me. Again, I swear I hear it but it's not on purpose.
Yes, I can monetize my gaming but as you know, your online presence should be stellar for you to have an acceptable earning for streaming and online gaming. And I am not that visible online, I try not to be. You know the risks for public figures in the internet. I don't want that risk. But going back to the point, they are not returning anything to me.
"The Change Has Come"
Everything changed when I got acquainted with bitcoin cash (BCH). Particularly when I got into Read.Cash and Noise.Cash. It had become known to me that I can do the things I enjoy while earning some BCH which is currently dubbed as equivalent of real money. I can read articles, which I do almost everyday at work and on my free time, and have the chance to earn some BCH. I can write, which I consider my first love, and earn some coins. I can immerse myself in social interactions just as in TW and earn some quick change. I could do those things and earn? You don't have to ask me twice. For sure I am going to be into that.
And sure enough, from that day forward my day-to-day free time has changed. In the past, with regards to the mobile game Slam Dunk, I could accomplish all and every daily tasks there is. Over and beyond. Even the monthly tasks in the game, I was able to finish all of them in a matter of 10 days. And since I was so immersed in that game, I managed to even create a second account. Both of those accounts are forerunners when it comes to number of games played and levels, among us friends. Imagine the amount of time I spent on those games. But as of today, I can't even finish the minimum number of games to complete the daily task of even one account. Why? Because I am absorbed in either read or noise. And why do I feel that it's okay? Even if I spend a whole day in either of them, I can get self satisfaction (Again, why??!!) , and on top of that, I am earning. Though in minimal amounts, over time those small amounts can sum up to a bigger or even larger savings. If I am to graph my free time consumption lately it will most likely be like this :
Conclusion
Let me be clear, NO. I am not complaining. I could not even think to complain. Reading? I love it. Writing? I love it. Earning? Heck YES! I LOVE it. With the mass adoption of BCH just looming around the corner, I am grateful that I was able to integrate BCH in my lifestyle sooner rather than later.
Of course, some of us who are a whole lot smarter could look for more ways of earning in staking, trading and other ways to save more bucks and save more time. It's pretty imperative that no matter how much time we spend, earning or doing things to make a living, saving some time for what really matter the most is crucial. Spending time with loved ones, that is.

I am so thankful I also stumbled upon read.cash, too. I am even a bit regretful that I have discovered it pretty late. We share the same 'past habits' and present ones. I used to spend a lot on shopping apps, though. Plus, weekly data connection to watch my favorite Youtube and Netflix videos.
I feel that my free time became more productive as EVER when I got involved in this. Thank you for sharing this, I can definitely relate to it. I always appreciate your works. ✨
