A Silly Song and A Serious Talk

"Jeremy and Momo sitting on a tree..."

Junjun was teasingly singing while he was balancing his chair backward and his head hanging over the chair's backrest. He was looking over Jeremy and Momo.

"Jeremy and Momo sitting on a tree... K.i.s.s.i.n.g"

Momo just gave him a cold gaze with an empty expression on her face. Junjun successfully received the message with an underlying death threat so he turned to Jeremy who was visibly flustered.

"Drop it Junjun." Jeremy snapped at him.

"Jeremy and Momo sitting on ..."

A thud rang across the room and then laughter ensued as Junjun hurriedly tried to get back up. His chair fell all the way back taking him with it all the way to the floor.

"Man, I told you to drop it."

They all turned when the door slid open and Mari walked through the door. She looked normal and nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

And then Junjun sang another song.

"Mari and Momo sitting on a tree..."

And before he could even finish a single line of his merry song he was violently stopped by Mari's baseball bat landing loudly on top of his head. He stopped and went back to his seat scratching his head.

"Good morning Mari." Jeremy said.

"Hiiii! Good morning Jeremy." She replied.

Momo looked back at her to acknowledge her and Mari instinctively covered her mouth with her hand as if trying to fend off any attack towards her lips.

"What? I'm not gonna kiss you again." Momo retorted.

The whole class's attention was grabbed and they all stared at the two girls. And just as expected, everyone erupted into a commotion, boys and girls alike. They all bugged Momo and Mari to give more details.

They just laughed it off.

Miss Erika came in and the commotion subsided. The murmurs still continued on. Two girls kissing? Who wouldn't make such wild imaginations and assumptions, right?

Mari and her crew were hanging by the school gates. It was late and most of the students went home. They were staying back as if waiting for someone to walk by.

Momo finished her duty as the cleaner for today and as she placed back the erased on its place below the blackboard, she was ready to go home. She grabbed her bag and went out. As she was walking out in the field she saw Mari and her gang standing by. Mari waved at her.

The rest of the girls left Mari. As Momo reached her, Mari walked up to her.

"We need to talk." Mari said.

It was said in the most confusing way ever. It was not a command, yet it sounds so authoritative. It wasn't a request either, but it sounded pitiful.

"Uhm..." Momo hesitated for a bit.

"Please." Mari insisted.

"Okay." Momo couldn't see any point in dragging it out. It looked like she didn't even have a choice.

They walked to a nearby cafe and it was the most awkward walk both of them experienced in their entire lives. They reached the cafe and they were seated at a table for two near the glass wall.

"Hmm. So you are paying for this, right?" Momo said to break the ice.

"Oh, oh yes, of course," Mari said and called upon the waiter. After placing the order, the silence ensued and Mari continued to fidget in her seat.

The drinks arrived without them even uttering another word.

In front of Momo was a cup of art latte. She took pictures of the art on the cup from several angles.

Mari ordered a cup of tea. She bit her lip and then tried to speak. "Uhm, a.. can I ask something?"

Momo put her phone down and looked at Mari intently.

"You practically kidnapped me already, I guess you can ask a question."

Mari looked her in the eye and asked, "do you like Jeremy?"

How you doing? This has been another installment to The Not So Perfect World series. Also, I am glad to tell you that the front page of the series has been updated with the latest articles. Can't imagine that we're in the 48th episode already. It seems like it was just yesterday when I started this little project of mine. I just wish I was any good at drawing so I could turn this one into a manga. LOL.
