That little something

All of us have that little something, that makes us feel good. A little something that is our form of release, our form of finding happiness, our form of finding sanity in this crazy world as we go through the whirlwinds of life.

It is something we need in our lives, it is something we owe it to ourselves and most times, forgotten as work and problems suck the life out of us. It is something we must find time and make time for. Sometimes, we live in search for happiness and if we can make time for it, there is a chance for us to find some happiness, even if it is just for a little while, just for a little bit. Every bit counts although there is no guarantee that we can find it, but at least we try.

There are many forms of that little something. Some find joy in doing art while some sing their hearts out. Some just eat and indulge while some immerse themselves in hours of gaming. Some prefers to find a quiet space and work their crafts or woodwork, while some read or write. We do the little somethings because we find comfort in them. It recharges us and gives us sanity in that moment and space.

Whatever that little something may be, it is something that we enjoy doing. It may not necessarily be something explainable to others on why it brings us joy but it is something that drives us and gives us energy. It could well be something that takes up a lot of time but we don't mind just because we like doing it. Sometimes, we do need to tell ourselves to just spend a fixed amount of time doing it because work awaits. But we look forward to it after a hard day's work.

If we take writing as an example, we write because we have a story to tell or perhaps we write just because we needed to let it all out or it could be just a straightforward reason of wanting to make extra money or in most cases, crypto money. Some earn more, some may not earn any at all. Whatever the reason may be, there is always a good reason to write and it can be done anywhere at any time. It can be written down on paper or it can be typed digitally on a mobile or computer.

Each of us has a story to tell, a story of our past, news of our present, a hope for our future and sometimes a story of our untold life in the form of dreams or it could be writing about nothing much. We can be writing about the sun and the moon or a ball in the garden or just ramblings about our day.

Each of us, are going through the life that we are living in and we experience bittersweet memories daily, some more bitter than sweet while some may choose not to remember because they are not worth remembering. But some, it is not a choice for us to remember or forget. Each is our own to tell and one that we cannot compare with another, no matter how similar they could be.

Just like the tree of life, we each are unique. We grow differently, our branches and roots pave their own ways and direction based on the the nutrients that we get or lack of. There is no one branch or root or leaf that is the same as another tree's and that is what makes us unique. With that, comes different stories, different experiences and different emotions.

But we do need to be mindful that what we write is a reflection of who we are and how we are feeling. Sometimes, we mask our true feelings, just because it feels better to do so. And this goes back to the way we write. There is power in words and as much as we feel like releasing, when it comes to posting in a public space, it can be dangerous. Sometimes, all we want to do is to share but the choice of words is important. It may not be obvious at first but words do reflect emotions. One can read anger just as one can read joy. One can read frustration just as one can read happiness. We still do need to be careful with what we write.

Although it is supposed to be a form of release, there will be days when we don't feel like it. The brain, the mood, the everything, just don't feel like it. And we can't force it unfortunately. It is how it is. For example, when it comes to writing, you can stare at the screen for hours, maybe you may get to type a little but that is it. Words get stuck, wondering what to write next. Sometimes the mind can just go blank. And it is hard to force it. Unless of course, if you are writing an essay in an exam when there really isn't much of a choice because you either write to pass with flying colours or fail.

When it comes down to it, if words don't flow and nothing comes to mind, when the brain goes blank and the mood got lost in the woods, lets take that moment to read others instead or look out of the window to find some inspiration. A writer's block is real. But hey, we can go find another little something that makes us happy.

As long as you have a little something it's fine whatever you do or... let it be. My best little something is staying in bed a bit longer or giving in to how I feel.

You used those three prompts well. 👍🍀💖

Hello my dear friend. I feel a hint of sadness in your article. You have been writing about your lack of encouragement to write for some time. I realize that you have time without encouragement to write.
