The unmistakeable whiff
Jean was excited. It was almost 4AM and she was getting ready to go to the airport. Her brother who had been away for the past 5 years was finally coming home. He was due to reach in an hour's time and with the airport being an hour's drive away, Jean planned to start driving soon. Her elderly uncle and cousin volunteered to accompany her. When the clock struck 4, Jean started her journey with her uncle seated at the passenger's seat behind and her cousin beside her. Jean's parents were long gone, victims of a drunk driving accident and her uncle was the one who took both Jean and her brother in, to take care and to **support** them like his own children. Jean took the highway to the airport as it was a more comfortable drive. Just as she was reaching the airport, part of the highway was closed due to roadworks. Jean slowed down, following the traffic, waiting for her turn to pass. Suddenly, she noticed a fast moving flashlight nearing her rearview mirror. Out of nowehere, she started to feel as though she was spinning in her car. Jean was confused, unsure what was going on. By the time help came, Jean was told that her car was hit by another car which sped from behind. Her uncle was stuck in between the seats while the other car, exploded into flames and **ashes**. Jean and her cousin were placed in the ambulance while firemen worked to **release** her uncle from the seats of her car. The other driver who hit her was also placed in the same ambulance. Jean looked over to the other driver and there it was, the unmistakable whiff of alcohol.

It's as if they never get rid of the alcoholics in their life. I wonder if Jane (last sentence Jean) chocked him. Sharing an ambulance with a drunk driver. Shouldn't they be private? I hope so with the coronavirus and social distance. It was a great read. Thank you. 🍀👍💕
Woops sorry. Should be Jean. Thank you for spotting the Jane 😆 She didn’t though she should have because her uncle passed away a month after due to the accident but the driver was only charged a fine for reckless driving. The ambulance was from a public hospital and at that time, no coronavirus lurking around yet. Thank you for the encouragement @wakeupkitty. It means a lot 💗💗💗
I keep wondering how alcoholics get away with this, if judges still judge and care. It really beats me. The alcoholic will continue drinking because not even a judge said he did anything wrong. You are welcome, and it's well-deserved. 💕🍀

It was sad how Jean almost died like her parents did. Alcohol indeed does nothing good if the drinker can't handle it responsibly. Congratulations for wining! Well deserved. 👍 Cheers!!🥂🥂🥂🥂
Thank you much @Gwenie for your kind comment. I agree. It was sadder that Jean and her parents obeyed the driving rules and it was the irresponsible drivers who drank and drove that took their lives.
I have this experience too. We hit a car because the driver is drunk. Luckily everyone was alright and that is enough for a lesson. The one memory I wish I never had.
It was a memory that Jean wished she never had too. Accidents change everything in a person, for a person. Lets be alert whenever we are on the road, for ourselves and for others who may not be aware of the danger they can cause.
Agree with that even though currently I am replying and driving because I am stuck in traffic. It is going to be hours. I hope I won't be late for work.
