Spit properly

Spitting can be horrid, disgusting and unhygienic when you do not do it at the designated place. If we need to clear our throat, lets find a sink or a toilet bowl first. After that, run the water or flush to wash the spit away. Spitting becomes appropriate when it is done the right way at the right place and at the right time. The same goes with words. Words can be spit out if done properly, at the right place and at the right time, whether verbally or in writing. The saying, "think before we speak (or write or act)" holds true. Honesty and speaking your mind is important but it is just as important to do it right. There will be times when emotion takes over logic and words that are spit out do more harm than good. And it takes courage to swallow your own spit when you know it does no one good. I have experienced regret after spitting out words based on anger and I felt like crap after. Words spoken or sent or published and read, cannot be taken back. There were times when I wrote email replies and spit out words that were filled with anger. As a result, I got myself into trouble many times until one day, I was given some words of wisdom. *It is important to write with impact but always put forth your points across professionally with respect.* *Write your heart out, but DO NOT send it out yet.* *Save it as draft first.* *Take a break, have a coffee or juice, take deep breaths and come back to the draft.* *Read, rewrite, reread and rewrite to make sure the tone is right and the points are clear.* *Get someone else to read the draft and have a second opinion because sometimes you may see it as fine but others may have a different opinion.* Some of us are gifted and are able to spit out words professionally on the fly, giving the needed impact while most of us will require the extra time and work to have the same impact.
