Frustrating...

My second entry to the Curation Duo #1 hosted by both @wakeupkitty and @heartbeat1515 . I have no idea what genre of poetry this is but it is my personal expression of what is happening and it is frustrating.

@heartbeat1515 mentioned in her post that: "For Curation Duo #1, I would like to read your thoughts, feelings or experiences about the current pandemic, Covid-19 through poetry."

Here goes...

Selfishness….

Irresponsible…

While we take heed,

Many didn’t.

They thought it was a joke,

They thought it was a hoax,

Is it that hard to just do it,

For the sake of all?

Nope, they didn’t care.

“Oh, my son is positive,

but he didn’t want to stay home,

so I brought him to the mall”

“Oh, we just had a birthday party,

at a restaurant, a small group of 10”

Guess what, all were tested positive,

after the owner was found positive.

Seriously??

Really??

Honestly,

I am speechless.

Is it that hard to stay home?

Is it that hard to wear a mask?

Is it that hard to not have a party?

Is it that hard to not go out?

It is hard for some, I know,

It is against their principles,

It is against their rights, they say,

It is up to them, I say.

Nowadays, I feel safer to just be home.

It is tiring to go out,

But if I need to,

I feel safer with a mask.

We had it under control but incidents after incidents, increased the numbers again. It is frustrating to hear stories like these.  Some may not believe that it is true but this is no joke.

Many have lost their lives, their loved ones, for what? For that moment to celebrate? For that moment to have a party? For that moment to go out because we are too spoilt to live minimally in consideration of the situation?

I am tired of hearing people complain, people whine, about how it is their freedom to not or to do things and how they couldn’t wait to go for a vacation after all this is over, and how they could no longer stay at home.

Have we ever taken a moment to think of the doctors, the nurses and medical officers, all the frontliners risking their lives for the rest of us? They risk their lives everyday, in the midst of ignorance of many. They can’t go home to their loved ones without worrying if they would infect them or if they would lose their lives some day.

Have we ever taken a moment to think about how lucky we are to get to stay home?

Sure, life is unfair.

Thank you for dropping by.

I appreciate it. I appreciate you.

We build a home, decorate it with expensive stuff. We have television, radio, internet, computers and Nintendo or Xbox and we are so bored. Bored to be at home although earlier we complaint because we had no time to be at home. How easily we forget.

We don't complain a small group does. We only hear them and they are rewarded now. They became ill and are free to go wherever they like. Those who stuck to the rules, took care, gave up everything lost the game.

True that. Whatever will be, will be. We do the best we can for ourselves. It is up to them to do what they like.

It is indeed frustrating. Seems like the number is going back up here. I hope the vaccine will work its effectiveness soon.

We have hardly people getting sick or in hospital. They already closed test centres and the PCR test locations at the border are closed too.

Yes and to think back, what caused it to shoot up again, that was upsetting. We had it all under control last year until that stupid incident in September. Ya hope so too but it seems with the new variants, this may be a long way more to go.

What you say is painful and very true. Thank you for a thought of encouragement for my colleagues in the healthcare team who are giving their lives to give life to others. Many dear friends have died doing their best to keep others healthy.

Isn't that the risk of this job? Isn't that the same with each yearly flu, the influenza pandemic we had two years ago, the Mexican flu we had twice, with those who work with Aids patients?

And what about all those people who kept working in shops? They risked their lives too. No one mentioned them. Same with his driver's, et cetera.

Let's hope hygiene will be better but I doubt it.

Yes indeed.. I get very annoyed and upset with those who kept complaining and whining. And there we have so many warriors in the healthcare industry trying to fight this and to keep this under control. So sorry to read this about your friends. I hope many will come to their senses and stop being selfish although it is a distant hope sometimes when you watch the news.

I do not believe that this will change the mentality of those who are unconscious. That is why diseases come and go. We don't learn even with so many deaths. Again thank you for your kind thoughts towards my colleagues who have risked their lives in this my country, without supplies and with their miserable pay.
