I think this is a topic that interests all of us, it's about good old social networks. Facebook and Twitter CEOs Mark Zuckerberg and Jack Dorsey have voluntarily agreed to attend a Senate hearing scheduled for Nov. 17. According to the announcement of the committee, the greats of social networks will be there to testify about their platforms, censorship and suppression of New York Post articles.
The news comes a day after Republican senators voted for a court summons to these directors, so they can respond to censorship allegations.
In mid-October, social media platforms took steps to limit the spread of stories from the New York Post, which claimed to have received awkward emails from Joe Biden's son's laptop. The authenticity of the emails has been confirmed, but social networks have decided to block such content, making it virtually invisible to a wider group of users.
In those moments of censorship, Facebook announced that it was reducing the distribution of the content itself, until it was reviewed by the company's partners, who are checking the truth of the facts.
The spokesman explained that everything is part of the standard process for reducing the spread of misinformation. Meanwhile, Twitter has completely blocked the sharing of URLs with this content, citing its existing guidelines on hacked material.
The steps taken by the platforms have re-emerged allegations of anti-conservative political bias. As a result of the reaction, Twitter had to update its usage policy, as well as unblock the link to the content of the New York Post.
What is your opinion, how will this end, feel free to write in the comments.
