I'm back in this challenge after a day discussing other stuff. Recent days are not okay but hoping things will improve soon. Meanwhile, as I've said, I am a fan in music that's why I created this challenge which is also, I consider, as a freewrite. I just have to keep on writing whatever aspects in music starting with letter B comes to my head.
1. Boybands
You know boybands has been popular decades back but the term started being used frequently during the 1990s. So many pop boybands came to music industry, either they're "sing and dance boy groups" or just "singing ballads mostly love songs boy groups". Backstreet Boys became the biggest boyband of their era during the second half of 1990s, while NSYNC distinguished themselves from them with record breaking albums in early 2000s. After them, European boybands had some success but not breaking the American market. Then the first half of 2010s came, One Direction became the biggest boyband then. Late 2010s until the current year, K-Pop boyband BTS has been controlling the music industry globally.
2. Ballads
There has been many artists who had successful hits with their ballad or downtempo songs. Divas such as Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and Celine Dion are known for such, mostly love songs. Even rock bands who had ballad rock songs became their signature hits.
3. Britney Spears
Music industry landscape had some changes late 1990s which may have started with the bubblegum pop of the Spice Girls, which was continued by boybands, and of course, Britney Spears. Her debut single and album "... Baby One More Time" became very successful leading her to superstardom, and one of the iconic music artists of all time.
4. Bond
I am not talking about James Bond, rather the string quarter from Australia, Bond. They're a girl group which was even dubbed as the "Spice Girls of Classical Music". I remember their music having good amount of plays on MTV before though not a fan of their music.
5. Backstreet Boys
I had already mentioned Backstreet Boys at the first one, why not make them part of this list? They became the biggest selling pop boyband of all time. Their biggest hit has been through their 1999 album "Millennium" along with their biggest hit "I Want It That Way".
6. Bon Jovi
Bon Jovi is one of the biggest bands of all time. They had great success starting from the 1980s with their album "Slippery When Wet" which has estimated sales 28 million copies. They had huge selling albums in 1990s too with three albums selling 10 million with their compilation album reached 21 million. They had great sales during 2000s too with the 10 million selling "Crush" aided by the hit "It's My Life".
7. Beyonce
Beyonce is one of the top female artists of all time. Before becoming a superstar, she's part of Destiny's Child. She's actually one of the few artists who became popular after being part of a band or a group. With singing and dancing, she became one of top performers since 2000.
8. Bent
"Bent" is a song by Matchbox Twenty released in 2000. It became one of the biggest hits that year, reaching number 1 in Billboard Hot 100, as it is a comeback after few years since their 12x platinum album "Yourself or Someone Like You".
9. Breathe
"Breathe" is the biggest hit album of Faith Hill released in 1999, and it has sold around 8 million in United States. While the title track "Breathe" became her biggest hit too when it reached number 2 in Billboard Hot 100, but ended up as the year-end number 1 single of 2000 in the US.
10. Bringin' on The Heartbreak
"Bringin' on The Heartbreak" was known as a single by Def Leppard released on 1981 but it didn't make it to Billboard top 50. Still, it is one of the hits of the band. In 2003, Mariah Carey released her own version of the song but it didn't chart in Billboard Hot 100.
Thank you for reading, and huge thanks to my sponsors below:
They are all great. But my most favorite is Britney Spears. I'm a fan of her ever since I was a child.
