nice to finally meet you

short story. third person point of view.

He's a mechanical engineering student.

She's an education student.

They have come across each other on a social platform called ask.fm (a social platform wherein a user can ask question randomly and some users can answer that question).

What can I say? hmm

They started as random strangers. She asked a question anonymously, and he answered anonymously. Follow up questions came and the conversation keeps on going.

She asks, he'll answer. He'll ask, she'll answer.

Until they became comfortable with each other. Comfortable enough to ask a question directly revealing their profiles on the said platform.

Days passed and the closeness continues.

It is quite inconvenient to have a long conversation with the platform that's why they have exchanged usernames on twitter. Followed each other, and talk through direct message.

The closeness just won't stop and the eagerness to know each other deeper grows stronger so they decided to add each other on Facebook. It became a way for them to know each other deeper. To know information about each other's family and friends.

That time, they have their conversation through messenger which is more convenient that direct message on twitter.

Knowing each other came out naturally to them. They have been friends then turn into lovers. Cliche eh?

But that's how they started. After months of getting to know each other, they finally take another step, and labeled themselves as boyfriend-girlfriend.

Things happened so fast. They met online and they become together online.

During the first few months, their relationship have been sailing smoothly. They are so sweet even though they still haven't really meet each other personally. They satiated themselves by contacting each other through chat and video calls.

Long distance relationship is hard but don't you think it's much harder when the person that you're in a relationship with is someone whom you've never met personally?

They actually live not that far away with each other but the travel time is so long. They have a choice to meet up but they decided to meet only when both of them have already graduated from their course and already have a job.

Days, weeks, months. So many monthsaries came and they are getting stronger. They actually last long! Until she already graduated. Later on she got a job at a private elementary school and practice her profession of teaching. Months passed by again and she's became a licensed professional teacher.

Him, on the other hand, is still on his fifth year in college.

She, being exposed on the real world, where she have to work is hard. That's a big adjustment from schooling. While him, was a graduating student that time that's why he's also busy.

That's when communication have been hard for the both of them. They are too immerse with their own worlds, overwhelmed with what's on their plate that they forgot to go to the online world to check on each other.

I must say that that's the period wherein their strong relationship have encountered such a strong storm that almost tore them apart.

That time, their relationship was already more than a year.

I can still remember how he gave her a gift during their first anniversary and he gave it through a courier service. That was so sweet.

But just like any other relationships, long distance or not, there are hurdles.

Fast forward... they didn't give up. Their relationship have its ups and downs but both of them hold on to each other.

And finally, his graduation day came! Both of them have finally graduated. He just need to land a job and the long wait is over. They can now see each other.

But then, pandemic happened. Their meet up has been postponed. Another tough long year passed.

And gladly, finally, at last. Today came, and they finally meet each other. After more than 3 long years of just seeing each other online.

As the guy came to the city he saw his girl waiting. For three long years of just seeing each other on screen, finally they have met.

As he approached the girl, she welcomed him on her home, and on her arms.

And there, it was indeed real. Both of them are real. And the feeling of hugging and holding each other's hand feels like heaven.

More than three long years of being together and finally, they are now together. As in together, personally.

Just by looking at the wide grin on their faces and the unfading smile that won't leave their faces, you can see how much they long for each other.

Their relationship is almost impossible to believe it. Online? 3 years? That's crazy. But maybe they are really meant to be because God allowed it to happen. He make it happen.

This kind of story is a story where you'll be left with words and you can only say "sana all". But it's true. And it's happening.

3 years of longing for each other and finally, it's over.

The guy told to himself that he can't spend a life without her again.

So what he did is he made his life there. Find a job there.

He stays. He supported her on her career, and she did the same.

Both of them are already successful on their respective careers when they decided to settle down. Get married, build a family and just live happily ever after.
