"Mahasthan' means a place that is sacred and 'garh'means fort. Mahasthangarh of Bogta districk is one of the earliest a urban archaeological sites discovered in Bangladesh. It is near the Dhaka- Dinajpur Trunk road and stands on the river korotoa.
