Little Penang Kafe Kari Hantu Set
Today I have my dinner at this restaurant called Little Penang Kafe to try another dish. It is located on the 4th floor of KLCC Suria Mall, it specializes in Penang cuisine.
This time I order their Kari Hantu Set, it cost RM22.80 after including the 6% service tax. It is a plate of rice served with penang-style beef curry, lorbak and ju Hu Char or Kerabu Pucuk Paku, I get ju Hu Char when mine is served.
Kari Hantu mean ghost curry in Malay. It is a term referring to a Gulai type of curry dish that have a rich, spicy and succulent curry-like sauce.
ju Hu Char which is at the bottom is a dish made up mainly of shredded vegetables like turnip or jicama, carrot, and cabbage and fried together with thinly shredded dried cuttlefish.
lorbak which is at the top part of the plate is a unique Hokkien and Teochew dish widely adopted in Malaysia. It is normally a composition of various meats and vegetables and other ingredients, such as a sausage-like roll consisting of minced pork and prawn (or fish) seasoned with five-spice powder. For little Penang Kafe version, they only use chicken meat.
