Celebrating the last generation. Greetings dear reader friends. Today I listened to an audio that a friend of mine sent me, there the speaker was congratulating the 60's generation. He affirmed and I smiled as I listened that we are the last generation of those of us who grew up without technology. There were no cell phones when we were kids, there was no color TV either. I remember watching a show in the afternoons after homework called El Zorro. It was in black and white, and what a great show it was every afternoon. I loved it, that Zorro was not only the hero of Baja California, he was also mine. I loved Diego De la Vega, such a hero, so gentle. But over the years I saw the technology change from black and white to color, I couldn't believe it. We were the generation of respect for our elders. We respected our teachers, what they told us was all true. Compliments, congratulations, punishments. The notes to the representatives to warn us about our behavior was a psychological terror for me, that meant a huge upset for my father and a beating for me. We didn't respond to our elders in the street, when they asked us for a favor, we were happy to do it. Picking something up off the floor, helping with a heavy bag, taking something by the arm to go down a step. We did it with affection. He also added that we were the generation of values. Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, good night, thank you and how are you? They were obligatory greetings in every arrival to a place, stay or farewell to a place. It didn’t matter how many people were in the place or if they answered or not, it was the obligation of the one who arrived to repeat those words.
We are the generation that participated in family games because there were no tablest, cell phones, or online games. So we had board games and we had a lot of fun with a game of Chinese checkers, with some Spanish cards, with some ping pong, with some marbles and kites. We were the ones who played in the street with our friends the neighbors and when we got thirsty we asked for water to the one who watered the plants with his hose. There one by one we would hit the spout of the hose and there was no need to worry because nobody got sick for doing that, neither for sticking their mouth to the hose nozzle nor for drinking the water directly from it. Nor did we dress in ripped pants because that meant we were among the poorest and who would have thought that today ripped pants are the most expensive brand. We were of the generation that, although many of us didn’t go to school or university, we were taught with the honesty of the elders, of the ability to work in the trades of the elders. That when we were on a bus and saw an elderly person arrive we immediately give them our seat with a smile and the corresponding of the elderly person along with their "God bless you." In those days the boys would throw the compliments and knew how to romance. It didn't matter that they didn't have money but just having a lot of the right words to reach a girl's heart was enough. It was not essential to have the latest car of the season to seduce. So the speaker made a toast to us, the last generation that came late to the internet applications, that learned late the advanced technology, that the computer buttons became so heavy, but that we learned. We are moving forward but we are already coming to our end. I salute and toast to all the readers of this platform that technology came to us late but we are at a certain level, not as advanced as the younger ones but we did the corresponding follow-up. I salute all those who, like me, are over 50 years old, who are over 55 years old and who thank God because we are about to be over 60 years old. A hug to all my friends, readers and sponsors of my posts as well as to my new sponsor @Peter-Molnar

Thank you are a witness to the changes technology has brought to this generation. The Lord will keep handing to you and your old age will be better than your youthful age in name
Thank you my dear.
Maybe life was much simpler in that time than they are now. Advancement has ironically made things more complicated perhaps
Every era has its beauty and complexity. Everything was simpler but still had its degree of difficulty.
I guess this is the best generation, but every generation has it own weakness.
It's true.
In the days when technology was not so intense, life was fuller and full of activities. I did not experience these very effectively, but I still remember the stories. I'm not complaining about the current situation, but I would like to spend the days with more activities.
What I can say is that we adapt to everything. Having technology at our fingertips means we have more time to do more activities. More hours occupied in many things.
As technology moves , so the manners have disappeared, many children don't respect things or people
Yes, it is true. It is the charge that technology makes that saves us time to do more things but limits us to do the most important things like interacting with our children and teaching them.
We are so lucky that we learned the proper values of respecting our elders and fellow
Thank you!
Thanks for the mention. I relate to your words and it was so great to read your lines, because they took me back to my childhood. I am not even 50 years old, but old enough to experience life without internet and cellphone. We spent so much time outside, we only went home for lunch and dinner. Loved the 90's.
Those were the days, weren't they? They say that to remember is to live. This is a pleasant memory.
Cheers friend! I remember that it only took one look from my mom for me to know that I had to behave. And good manners and values are no longer in fashion and it's very unfortunate.
Yes, everything changes. As much as we try to get them to learn our ways it is as simple as them children grouping together and commenting in unison on their own truth.
Even though we have some gadgets in my childhood I'm thankful I still experienced playing outside with my friends and spending my whole afternoon outside and go home with dirty clothes and mom was so mad because I look like that.
Times to remember. Hahaha
How I missed my old days also maam gertu. I never experience also having a gadget when I was a student and I do respect the elders also. I have a soft heart to them and I value the presence of my grandmother/grandfather.
You're very cute my dear.
Thanks. Ive experience also your side and maybe I belong into an old people also hehehe.
Those wee the good old days ma'am. The young. Folks of those days were more disciplined amd focused and always look towards their future with aggressive determination. ☺
Thank you. Those were very good times.
greetings, for you to me as a new user here.. times have indeed changed human civilization, changes in character are happening so fast. Even though I was born in an era that is said to be quite modern, I feel that the past life was very closely related to high morality. Respect and greetings always come first but everything has changed. One of the factors that made the change was the inclusion of foreign cultures in the area affecting the way people live. You are already in your old age but if I see the example of morality you want to convey to the younger generation and I have to express my appreciation. keep the spirit may God always bless and strengthen you.
Do you think that one of the causes of the changes was due to the interference of foreign cultures? I believe that every country is nurtured by inclusion. The foreigner assumes the customs of the country where he/she lives just to fit in. And I don't think that this has had any influence on the penetration of technology in life in the 70s, 80s or 90s.
that's probably what happened in my area and from the visions and stories of our grandmothers and grandfathers. it's possible that not all countries get the same thing. because of cultural differences and the modern era, it is easy for most generations to follow because of the flashlight trend which is going viral. sorry friends if there is a difference. God bless
Yes we have differences of opinion but that is what I want to say. Differences enhance us, not minimize us. I believe and think differently because of my own experiences and I respect yours.
thank you friend, I'm a new user here so I'm still learning a lot, please guide me and always give feedback. because you are a great person here. thank you
*Those are golden days ma'am. I remember when I was young, whenever my grandma stared at us, we already should behave. She also teaches us to greet every person we meet on the road like good morning/afternoon/evening. How i miss those days when I still watched the color black and white TV. I also remember how the courtship that time was. There's no need to show off with those material things. We also don't talk back to our elders and even now, i don't do that coz I valued them so much*
These are our most precious memories. The values instilled in us by our elders. Cheers to that.
What a far journey you've come. I had the taste of the early times but not as you did. I remember the days of no cell phones and days of black and white television. The days of no paper book but a planck book where we write with chalk. The days we play outside at night under the moon...so sweet then ❤️. Technology has really pushed a lot away and it's fine because life is now more easier.
After reading this, I wonder what will happen about 40-50 years from now, will the world advance so much that I'll be left behind or will I still be able to keep up with the developments.
Of course you can! We all can. The world continues to evolve and we go through it. In that distant future you will be writing what I am writing now. Nothing will be the same as this moment by then.
Ahhhh... the life. Those were the days. Wonderful time in our life, really.
There is a phrase that says that every time in the past was better... Hehehehe. I agree.
I do, too! Keep safe!
You are amazing Gertu . our young grandmama 😁
A big salute to you all. It's not an easy thing, because most times I imagine going a full day without my phone, it would seem as if it's the end of the work for me. I respect the elders because I remember that in my country when I was in secondary school only the rich could afford to have a phone, so I didn't have.
Each time i read an article that seems to remind me of my old days, i'm moved to tears at once cos all those persons that made my old days very fantastic and quite memorable like my grandmom and uncles especially have all gone and I have none of these important persons to call upon whenever i'm in the country side and what happens next to me, tears always drops down my eyes. You can't see me now but the truth of the matter is that iam crying as i'm remembering these ones. Anyway, thanls for this very lovely article ma'am Gertu13 and good morning these You ma'am
Yeah, I didn't grow up with phone. No one really had one and after some years even kids now have phones. I miss the simpler times
It is different to grow up with nothing than to grow up in times when things do not exist. Nowadays there is a lot of evolution and technology but it is not within everyone's reach. Only those who are willing to do so will have access to technology; the rest will be left behind.
Yes, that's very true
Ahhh, because of this a memories from my childhood is all coming back to me. I miss those happy moments where there's mo gadgets but when without that we can still do a lot. We enjoy our days and many, how I miss those good old days 🥳🥰
Ah you are also from the 60's hehehehe. A hug dear.
Looking at young people from the outside, sometimes it really seems that they are some kind of relaxed, they haven't seen life and some serious stresses can break them. But that's really how it should be.
But youth now live through technology. They have virtual friends, they make friends online, they don't stand in front of each other and they don't live difficult life situations. Their problems are the connection, the lack of more advanced instrumentation to reach out to others and I don't know how much more technological mischief. They get frustrated very easily.
That's what it looks like to us! Learn to break stereotypes. Our grandparents used to say the same thing about our generation: spoiled, unattractive, what to make of you, where are today's young people going? And so from generation to generation. Human evolution does not stand still - gadgets, computers, etc. - it is very important to know the line.
It's true, yesterday my son read my post and told me, "mom I don't like that life from before" and it's true, I didn't like my mother's life either. And I told my son" when you are older and have your children they will tell you what you tell me now about my childhood times".
I'm of the same opinion as your son. Maybe it's not as bad as we think. But as tempting as all this "innovation" may seem, we as parents have to teach about the dangers of all these things. Time will tell.
you beautifully take us from color world to your black and white world which i found to more color ful than our digital mediums.
