If you have to lose your lungs, you will lose them with quality tobacco!

İçine nelerin konulup nelerin konmadığını biliyor, istediğin tütünü seçebiliyor, içim sertliğini ayarlayabiliyorsun. Adi tütünden dolayı ciğerlerini kaybetme riski yok! İlla ki kaybedeceksen, kaliteli tütünle kaybedersin!

On a trip to the city last month, I saw three differences in looking at the city from higher ground. The mountains act as indestructible fortress walls on the front lines, like vanguard troops protecting the city. Maybe they don't protect the city from catapult shots, but they block the force of the strong winds.

Geçen ay gerçekleştirdiğim bir şehir gezisinde şehre daha yüksekten bakmanın üç farkını gördüm. Dağlar şehri koruyan öncü birlikler gibi ön saflarda yıkılmaz kale duvarları görevini üstleniyor. Belki şehri mancınık atışlarından korumuyor ama sert esen rüzgarın gücünü kesiyor.

When you are in the middle of the city, the crowded and dense concrete structures can be tiresome. Everywhere you look there are similar buildings and concrete floors. When you add the traffic and human presence you have to put up with, life becomes heavy and when it gets overwhelming, you want to get out of the city as soon as possible.

Şehrin ortasındayken beton yapıların kalabalık ve sık duruşu bezdirici olabiliyor. Nereye baksan birbirine benzer yapılar ve betonun oluşturduğu zemin göze çarpıyor. Üstüne, katlanmak zorunda olduğun trafik ve insan varlığı eklendiğinde yaşamak ağırlaşıyor ve iyice bunalttığı zamanlarda bir an önce şehirden çıkmayı istiyorsun.

And most importantly, when you look at the city from a wider perspective, you see things you haven't seen in the city you have lived in for decades. Wow, is there this much green space in the city? Since I didn't make a photomontage, there must be more green areas than I realized. It's not good for them to be clustered in certain spots because they can disappear at any moment with the start of a new construction!

Ve en önemlisi, şehre geniş açıdan baktığında onlarca yıldır yaşadığın şehirde göremediklerini görüyorsun. Vay be, şehirde bu kadar yeşil alan var mıymış? Fotomontaj yapmadığıma göre farkına varamadığım kadar yeşil alan varmış demek ki. Belirli noktalarda kümelenmeleri onlar için iyi değil çünkü her an yeni bir inşaatın başlamasıyla yok olabilirler!

It is one of the miracles of life that a not-so-large area contains tens of thousands of stories and each story is unique. The struggle of tens of thousands of people whose first priority is to live and survive is really only economic. To live and survive is figuratively to make a living.

Çokta büyük sayılmayacak bir alanın içinde on binlerce hikaye barındırması ve her hikayenin benzersiz olması yaşam mucizelerinden biridir. Birincil önceliği yaşamak ve hayatta kalmak olan on binlerin mücadelesi aslında sadece ekonomiktir. Yaşamak ve hayatta kalmayı sürdürebilmek mecazi olarak geçimini sağlayabilmektir.

It is a strange and contradictory situation that many people are struggling to maintain such a struggle and yet many people are trying to destroy their own health. When the stress of structural and traffic pressures in the city is added to the problems of making a living, one would expect the person to move away from creating more problems, but it is undeniable that the opposite is the case...

Böyle bir mücadele sürdürürken birçok insanın kendi sağlığını bozmak için uğraşması da tuhaf ve çelişkili bir durum. Şehirdeki yapısal ve trafiksel baskının verdiği strese geçim sorunları da eklendiğinde, kişinin daha fazla sorun çıkarmaktan uzaklaşması beklenirken; tam tersi olması hiçte yadsınamaz…
