Finally, we opened the fig season. I live in an area rich in fruit. I can pick and eat many fruits from their branches. Except for some tropical fruits of course.

We will consume figs, which have many benefits, first wet and then dried. I don't have much information about the other countries where it grows in the world, but my region has a very intense producer in terms of figs.

fig harvest

Producers with the aim of selling wait for the figs to mature well on their branches and fall to the ground by themselves, collect the fallen figs, dry them in the sun and sell them to many countries. Of course, as in every product, first quality products get the most value in figs.

Other by-products, such as animal feed and molasses, are obtained from the extremely abundant products. It is possible to obtain many by-products of fig, from jam to molasses. They mature very quickly on hot days. So much so that the raw immature fig a few hours ago becomes ripe when it is exposed to direct heat.

In other words, even a few hours play an important role in its maturation.

The fig tree grows faster than many trees, even a tree that has been planted a year can bear fruit. In this respect, it is one of the favorite products grown in places where climatic conditions are suitable. It does not need watering because it does not like water. The most disturbing issue when it grows is that the birds do not leave the tree alone. Because ripe figs are among the favorite foods of birds. The tree's worst enemy is the cold and wetland. It should never be grown in wetlands.

The benefits of figs

Its most obvious benefit is its use in digestive system diseases. So much so that when someone whose digestive system does not work properly, consumes 2 figs a day regularly, the digestive system disorder will pass by itself.

It also has the ability to prevent Alzheimer's and cancer. Of course, it has only a preventive effect, it has no healing properties during treatment. It regulates blood pressure and is beneficial for heart health. It has anti-bronchitis and asthma preventive properties as well as hair and skin renewal properties. Another important feature is that it increases sexual desire. Those who have this problem can consume it regularly.

In case you happen to be in Turkey one day, we are waiting for you in the Aegean region for the fig harvest, which starts at the end of July and continues until the end of September.

You can get the product 1 year after planting the fig tree, yes, but if you want the tree to grow faster, you should collect the fruits on it before they mature. Because for a few years the tree must use its power to grow rather than ripen fruit.

It's really nice to learn lots of things about figs. And knowing that is way more beneficial than any other. I don't know what figs looks like for I haven't seen it in person. But they look interesting, can't wait to taste one of it.

I was thinking that maybe we can plant some of that here but then you mentioned it can't grow in cold and wet places so I guess that's a no :D I haven't tasted a fig fruit yet. Turkey is one of the places in my bucket list since reading about Cappadocia. I will surely feast on fig when I have a chance to visit Turkey :D
