Had vegetarian food yesterday for our meals. Wife bought back for lunch on the way back from sending our son to school.
She bought some stir fried sweet potato leaves, some celery and snow peas stir fried with seitan, a stir fried broccoli stems, and some deep fried beancurd skin.
I think it was my first time eating seitan which is flour that is knead then washed in waster until the starch is removed. It's also called gluten "meat" by some as it mimics meat texture. It tasted slightly sweet and not at all like meat. Not entirely unpleasant and worth a try.
The broccoli was the best. I suppose if you wanna go vegetarian, get actual vegetables and they'll taste better than any "meat" imitation.
The fried beancurd was also very nice. I love tofu and anything beancurd so to me it was very delicious.
Ate all these with rice.
The best thing about the meal was the price. Lunch AND dinner for 2 adults and 1 kid for RM12 (3 USD)
What a deal!
Yes it was quite nice and a new experience as it was my first time trying the vegetarian mix rice food.
