My first OpenSea NFT experience
During my crypto research, I tried and checked many NFT platforms on many blockchains. OpenSea is definitely among the most well-known and popular, so I created a collection there and decided to share my experience of creating the Kyiv Fortress collection.
In a way publishing the first collection was like publishing the first ebook many years ago. I expected that once I published it - somebody will start buying. But this didn't happen. Neither in a day nor in a month and maybe won't happen at all!
Creation
But let's speak about the creative process first of all. It's very simple and very user-friendly. Yes, some people who are not in crypto might face difficulties. But still, after doing some self-education everything should be fine. I did everything on mobile phone (on Samsung, Android), I used Brave browser and Metamask app (used Wallet connect). Just to test I also use Brave browser and Metamask extension on the laptop. But for me, publishing was easier on the mobile. That's also because the photos I had on my mobile phone, as I took them with my camera.
This time I used Polygon (MATIC) blockchain and I was even surprised that for creation I didn't need to pay the fees. In the future, I will try also Solana
So the NFT creation process is very fast and simple on the OpenSea.
Concept
So the concept which I had is to create the "Kyiv Fortress" collection of photographs, some of them are from pre-war times, some of them during the war, some hope after the war (or as we say in Ukraine - after the victory).
Maybe it might sound not so modest, but few people know Kyiv as well as me. In this admiration of Kyiv, I go so far that I want to show Kyiv city to each and everyone of you. I can't do it personally, as most of you, my readers won't visit Kyiv and not only because of the war but because the world is so big and you might be so far away. However, of course, if some you come to visit - we can meet, why not) The idea was to create a conceptual gallery of Kyiv, to show you the different parts, places, weather, monuments...
I also have a concept of how to connect this collection to some other projects. To bring a new utility to them. I didn't speak out and didn't define the concept, but now I feel that it should be stated strongly and that I will do it in the future.
Charity aspect
I didn't involve that charity aspect. Of course, I could say that all the funds will go to supporting Ukraine. This will be true, as even if all the NFTs which are there now were sold - the cost will be smaller than the personal funds which I spent for supporting Ukraine. But in any case, that's a drop in the ocean compared to what others spent and donated. And there are many other charities. There are also official funds, as one of my readers told me - if somebody wants to donate - there are official funds in crypto. So why to make competition for them? This collection I want to see interesting by itself.
Promotion
So many NFTs exist these days, so your collection needs to stand out. Most of the NFTs got likes, so I see there is interest, and at least people notice them. I didn't do much promotion, maybe some tweets, and a few crypto-blogs, so I don't mind that for now, the result is 0.
The only thing I want to say is that don't expect to sell NFTs without promotion. Unless you are already somebody popular.
In conclusion, all the written above might look obvious. However people from non-crypto industries ask me about NFTs and for them I hope telling about my experience might be useful.
Can you write an article about how to sell NfT Art ?
