Although some work from home during a coronavirus pandemic, most of us still use a car when we go for groceries, medicines and the like. So far, when entering the car, we have been thinking about the seat belt and similar things, and now we should pay more attention to what we are touching.
There are a few things you do wrong when using a car during a pandemic.
1. Remove the protective mask:
Wearing a mask when leaving the house has become a routine, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) points out that the mask should be worn indoors and where it is not possible to maintain physical distance. The mask protects us as well as those around us. Unfortunately, some who use it are unaware of how they are taking the risk.
"When you get in your car, you bring in germs from all the places you've been before and from every surface you've touched, and that includes your mask," it's a good idea to wear a mask in your car as well, but if you have to take it off, prepare one. a container into which you can insert it so that it does not come into contact with other surfaces in the vehicle. If your mask does come into contact with any surface of your car, make sure to disinfect it immediately.
2. Wear contaminated gloves:
Just because your hands are covered doesn’t mean you can’t get bacteria into the car.
“If you decide to wear gloves, throw them away before getting into the vehicle. I see people getting into a car with their gloves still on, which completely nullifies the purpose of their use. ”
3. Disinfectant, do not use:
After removing the gloves, it is necessary to disinfect your hands. Thorough hand washing is recommended by experts, but when you are unable to do so, then at least disinfect your hands.
"Not washing your hands with soap and water, wipes, alcohol before touching anything in the car is the number one mistake."
4. Do not clean the steering wheel and other surfaces that are frequently touched:
Touching public handles, handrails, keyboards and carts during a pandemic, how often we all touch common areas.
"It's a big mistake not to wipe the handle, steering wheel or other surfaces."
If you share your vehicle with other drivers, it is also recommended to thoroughly clean other surfaces in the car.
5. Car key, do not disinfect:
“People may disinfect their hands and wear masks, but sometimes they take keys from a bag or pocket with contaminated hands. Tiny extra steps, such as disinfecting keys, credit cards, etc., can help prevent virus transmis sion. ”
6. Bags from the store, place directly on the seats in the vehicle:
“Putting bags that are potentially contaminated on a car seat is a big mistake. Put grocery bags, boxes and other supplies in the trunk and use hand sanitizer after you get back in the car. ”
This will avoid contamination of sterile surfaces in your car.
7. Your windows are closed:
The importance of ventilation is one of the things that experts especially emphasize in the fight against coronavirus. Good ventilation prevents the virus from spreading through the air.
“Leave the window at least a little open. This can help reduce the buildup of virus particles in the vehicle, which is quite important if someone other than you is using the car. ”
COVID-19 is a highly contagious disease. We are all responsible for slowing its spread and we must adhere to these simple precautions. You need to protect yourself and everyone around you.
