How many times have you made your new year's resolutions lists? And out of those resolutions, how many of those were accomplished? When I was a kid, there was a time that my brother and I listed our resolutions on a notebook. I cannot recall all of it but I remembered that we wrote down that we wouldn't fight each other anymore. LOL.
As time goes by every Holiday season I would always say that my new year's resolution would be to lose weight, go on a diet, be slim and sexy but I never really attained it. My desire to eat was stronger than my need of losing weight. Resolutions for me is more of a decision or a promise to yourself that you may or may not do a certain thing. I don't know when I stopped making resolutions as I just let things to happen and because I have never once achieve any of it. LOL.
Should we really have to make resolutions every new year when we know that majority of us aren't really doing anything to accomplish it? For me it is a good start that a person has a new year's resolution because he or she wants something. In short, that person has a dream or a wish or a goal.
Though resolutions, dreams, wishes and goals may have different meanings yet the main point of it is the person's wants. A resolution is a determination to do something. A wish is something that we want to happen or something that we want to have. It is a strong feeling or desire that inspires us to dream. This dream is not the one that we dreamt of when we are asleep. A dream is the ultimate realization of our wishes. It gives us the passion that inspires us to make a goal. And lastly, a goal is something that we want or intend to achieve in the future and that requires us to have an action plan. Goals are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and should have a set time frame. It inspires us to take action to make our wishes and dreams come true and to make it a reality.
I think that instead of making those yearly resolutions, we should set our yearly goals. If a person has a goal, he or she is driven by it then also set a time frame in achieving those.
"If you have a goal, write it down. If you do not write it down, you do not have a goal – you have a wish." — Steve Maraboli
Has anyone asked you of your short and long term goals during job interviews? I remember answering them that my long term goal was to have a business. I may not have written it but I am glad that I am currently accomplishing it or maybe I may have written it as one of my resolutions before.
The things is, if you want to set a goal, you have to be driven, focused, motivated, confident, risk taker and has the right mindset and that CAN or positive attitude towards achieving your dream.
When I drafted this last December 27, I didn't have any clear written goals yet and my real plan was to publish this on or before January 1 but I never got to do so. But now that @Eirolfeam2 has a 1 Dollar Question Giveaway contest, I thought of participating by using this draft.
For 2021, I am looking forward to a better, healthier and prosperous year. For the past 2 years, my parents including me have been put in a lot of obstacles with regards to our well-being. My mom was hospitalized in 2019, I was hospitalized in 2020 and my dad had shingles towards the end of that same year and is still recuperating. I saw how my dad struggled for money because of our hospital bills and you can include their maintenance medicines and living expenses every month.
It hurts to see my parents in a lot of pain and stress. That is why for 2021, my goal is to SAVE, FOCUS on my business and BE FIT. In order for me to save, I need a souce of income. I have been unemployed for a long time now and my only source other than my parents are read.cash and noise.cash. Aside from those 2, I have other money earning platforms but I am not yet monetized on Youtube and with Lyka, I can only use my earned GEMs in their partner merchants. My goal is to save at least Php500 per month if possible and to continue uploading videos on Youtube and promoting it every so often. I apologized if I keep on doing that because I just really want my channel to be monitized. I mean who doesn't right?
The same goes with my crunchy chili garlic in oil business that I need to promote further so as to cater to a lot of clients. By doing that I need to focus on my business especially with regards to marketing it. I am also planning to add some new items but I still need some capital for that. For now I will just have to focus on one thing first before doing the other. It is not everyday that I get some orders and this year my goal for my business is to double the number of bottles sold compared to last year.
Since my operation, gradually I have started to control what I eat in a day. I need to be fit for many health reasons and also for me to look and feel good about myself. In order for me to achieve that, my goal is to start exercising again just like what I did 5 years ago.
Other than those 3, I really want an iPhone 12 Pro and a laptop but I know that material things can wait. Plus its value depreciates over time. Though I can use those 2 to motivate me in achieving my top 2 goals. I just have to have that right mindset towards my goals. It isn't about how bad I want it but how hard I work hard for it.
How about you? What will be your goals for this year? Whether it is fitness, savings, investment, career or relationship, ask yourself how do you plan to achieve it? Why do you want to achieve it? When will be the start and end date for your goals? I hope by this time, we will start thinking about it. Dream big and let's reach our goals.
