I first published my article here on read.cash last December 04 and I am happy as I now have 9 articles and this would be for my 10th. I told myself that I have to make one article per day. If that is the case then I still lack 2 more but I'll just have to go along and see what else I can do. Besides it is sometimes hard to think of a topic. I remembered that it was also the problem of some people with Kiki before. As for me, I had to some back up because I reviewed the foods and/or restaurants that I have tried. For now it needs to step back for awhile because I haven't tried any new restaurants yet. I only go out just for groceries, pay bills and buy maintenance medicines for my parents. I don't want to risk my health as well as my parents just to have the satisfaction of eating out. No offense if you have already eaten out.
The last time I have eaten out was last March 1. I think it was also the last time that I went to the mall. During that time eventhough the news about the virus had been a hot topic, we still went out. It was because we know that the virus was in China and we were miles away from it. If only I knew that things would turn out this way, I should have documented our dining experience.
In a few weeks, my Youtube channel would turn 1. How time flies right? I started it because I together with my family and/or friends love trying out new restaurants and we also have a plan to travel locally this 2020. So I told myself that I should grab the opportunity. Maybe in that way I can earn from Youtube. I was actually late to realize about that because during the years of being unemployed, we have tried a lot of good restaurants and go to some beautiful places here in the Philippines but I never thought of doing a video. It's hard for me to say vlogging. LOL. You'll find out if you have already seen my videos.
I named my channel, Where To?, because it is usually the question that we ask ourselves when we are out. Where to eat? Where to go? Where to find? That was the concept of my channel. So my first few videos were about the restaurants that we have tried. The first video was actually taken November of 2019 and I just tried to document the restaurant and the food that we had. I was more into taking photos ever since so I had no problem on what photos to upload on Kiki because I have lots of it. The rest of the videos were all taken this year.
Then the pandemic happened. I had no videos to upload because we were in lockdown. A lot have also started making their own channel because it was the only solution for them to earn money. While everyone started, I was already missing. Doing cooking videos wasn't really part of my channel but I had no choice. We don't really order food so that really leaves me to cooking. I have already missed a lot of months and I needed a lot of watch hours so I had to step up.
So I started cooking. Some videos had a great response from the people and of course there are still some videos that doesn't appeal to the people. My friend suggested for me to try some local food products that had started selling during the quarantine. Yes, I liked the idea but the problem was the funds. I didn't have enough money to buy those food. The foods that I cooked were usually for our lunch and/or dinner or merienda. I only cooked the dishes that are budget friendly.
Mid this year I decided to change the name of my channel because the idea of the "Where To?" is already gone. Plus it was so hard to search for my channel. If you would type in "Where To?, a lot would show unless you filter it to channel name. But there are still some channels with the name "Where to". It was really hard to think of a new name so I asked helped from my friend. Good thing she was able to come up with a new name, The Foodist Diary. The logo was still the same and I just added the words, The Foodist Diary. I would always rely on her about my business and my Youtube. And she on the other hand would also send me some ideas on what and how to do such videos.
I know my videos aren't as good as to what she had showed me but I'll be able to make it good in time. She also suggested that I should have a proper angle and lighting, decent props and a very good editing skills. I told her soon because I am still having a hard time with taking a video while cooking. I sometimes asked my mom or our helper to cook for me so that I will be able to document it properly.
I know that I haven't met the requirements of Youtube yet but I am hoping that someday it may be monetize. I even joined different groups to further promote my channel but I still need a lot more. Do you have any suggestions for me? I have also tried joining live streams but it wasn't that effective as per my observation. Or maybe because I am not that persistent with watching live streams. I did try it for more than 3 consecutive days but I only got a few.
Do you have a Youtube channel or would you want to have one? What is it about or what would be your content? Would you show your face or you would also hide behind the camera? I know that showing your face is more engaging to the audience but really it isn't for me. Just by typing and thinking of it right now makes me so nervous. LOL. If ever I would show my face, I was planning to create another channel and it would be just about my random daily routines and stuffs. Though I don't know when would that be. LOL.
Hope you will reach soon
