Business ideas (part 4)
Just a recap, I have already shared a lot of businesses that I know would be a great investment and those are Jollibee, Potato Corner, Turks, milk tea and coffee shops, siomai, laundry shops and water refilling stations. Which among these businesses do you want to build if you would have the money? For me, it would be Jollibee, Potato Corner, Turks and siomai. Of course I would not forget about coffee shop as it was what I have ever wanted when I experienced working in one.
But those are not the only businesses that I think have potential. Let's continue with the list:
Rice retailing
Another necessity, rice. What can you say about rice retailing business in your area? Outside our subdivision there are 3 rice retailing stores that I usually see whenever I go out then there are also some rice retailing stores in the small public market near our place. But out of the 3 that I usually see, there's 1 rice retailing store that has many customers and you can include us there. This rice retailing store not only do they have a lot of rice varieties but they also have pet food for dogs and cats. They also have some pet treats and other pet supplies. My dad even notice the turnover of customers of this rice retailing and pet food store. In my opinion, they beat their competitors for also selling pet foods. They are the only store in our area who sells pet food by kilo.
I have no idea how much it cost to have a rice retailing store but you can easily sell it as it is a necessity. My aunt had a rice retailing store before but I do not know what happened with her business.
Waxing salons
11 years ago when I first had my Brazilian waxing, I saw the turnover of guests in a waxing salon and I told myself that it is really a good business. People nowadays are more conscious about their looks most especially in other parts of our body. I remember when I was a kid, my mom and my aunt would ask me to pluck their underarm hair but now there are waxing salons that can make our lives easier to remove those unwanted hairs. There may be hair removal creams on the market but it is still better to pluck them all the way from its roots. The hair takes a longer time before it grows back unlike with creams.
Waxing salons are not only for female but also for male though majority of their clients are female. The usual services that a female wants to avail are eyebrow threading and underarm waxing which is often done once every other month or depends on the growth of hair. Some people says that shaving is a no-no as it makes the hair even thicker.
Waxing salons are always full during weekends and most especially during summer and you know why. I remember that I had to wait for hours before it was my turn. When I interviewed the staff, she said that most waxing salons inside the mall is expected to have longer waiting time. It was actually my first time to go to a waxing salon inside a mall that time as I always go to the one that was just near our place.
Sugaring and cold wax technique tend to take a little longer than hot waxing. Different people, different likes. I prefer hot over sugaring and cold because it is faster. Though during this pandemic, waxing salons were amongst the other businesses that had been badly affected. I do not know if some of them have closed down or filed for bankruptcy but I know they will still pick up now that we are slowly seeing some light. There may have been some people who have removed their unwanted hair all by themselves or with the help of someone just like me during the past months but it is still very much convenient to have it done professionally by trained staffs especially down there.
Veterinary clinic
Now that we are on the talks of pets, a veterinary clinic is a good business. The wife of my brother's friend is a veterinarian and a pet lover. They started to build a veterinary clinic before. After a year or 2 they expanded and they now have 3 clinics. If you have pets, you would know how costly it is for their check ups, vitamins and injections. Here in our area, there are 3 veterinary clinics and those 3 never get zero in a day as they always have clients whether for grooming or their injections.
When we brought our dogs to the clinic early this month, we waited for almost an hour as there were some customers. We were seated near the cashier counter and my mom had heard how much the bill was for every customer and it was always above Php2,000 ($40). Though I feel that this business will cost more than a million Pesos since you need to equip your clinic with medicines and other medical equipments. More and more people are now taking care of pets and I know that it will continue to grow in the coming years that is why a veterinary clinic would be a good business. The only challenging part would be to look for a veterinarian that will stay in the company for years.
Rice retailing business sounds good. But it took me a while to figure out what it was all about, given where I live. But great ideas!
