Business ideas (part 3)
On the second part of my article, I have shared about Jollibee, Potato Corner, Turks and milk tea shops as the businesses that a lot of Filipinos love. Here are other business ideas that I know has a potential:
Coffee shops
Long before milk tea shops became a trend, coffee shops are one of the most popular place for people to hang out, chill and catch up with friends over coffee. Sadly, Starbucks is not open for franchise as it is all under Rustan Coffee Company. I am not sure with other coffee shops but you can build your own coffee shop. Make it Instagram worthy with quality food and drinks, friendly staffs and excellent service and you are good to go. There was 1 minimalist coffee shop that recently opened mid this year that I have been to recently and according to the owner, her coffee shop cost around 5 million Pesos. From the menu up to the layout of the coffee shop was all her idea. Though it only had a few tables as she designed it to fit the required seating capacities in food industries during pandemic. But overall, it was right up my alley.
But have you noticed before that coffee shops are also the favorite place of some students. My friend, A, and I would always say that coffee shops are the second library that most customers would study in the coffee shop from opening until closing. Those were some of our problems before especially when we have a lot of guests. We cannot shoo them away as they are our regular customers. So the guests would have to wait when a table becomes vacant. Still, coffee is something that majority of us would drink to perk up our day.
Siomai
Siomai is one of the popular Chinese dumplings that we Filipinos love to eat whether for snack or as a viand with rice. Whenever I see some siomai stands before, there were always a lot of people around the food cart eating siomai plus a few people in queue. Siomai is one the many food cart businesses that would bring in a lot of money.
In the mall that is near us, we saw one siomai business started as a small cart with a single staff and now it has been upgraded into a small kiosk that already has 4 staffs. Before I know the franchise fee for a siomai food cart was less than Php200,000 ($4,000). I do not know if it is still the same up to now but this is also one of the businesses that my mom and I want.
Laundry shop
My brother was in high school when he had noticed that a laundry shop is also a good business. I know my brother and sister-in-law have also looked into this business and I know they even canvassed for the prices of washing machines and dryers.
Then when I was in college, I have also observed that a laundry shop is really a good business especially near schools and condominiums. I remember my college friends and blockmates that were renting in condominiums. When they cannot go home, they would have their clothes washed in a laundry shop. Because of that, I have agreed to what my brother had said before about laundry shops.
Here in our place, I think there are 6 laundry shops just outside our subdivision that has been in business for years and 1 inside our subdivision. Imagine 7 laundry shops that only a few walks away from each other and yet they are still open up to this day. Also, laundry shops are loaded when it is rainy season even the self-service laundry shops. I used to go along with my friend, A, whenever she does her laundry a few years back and that is when I noticed the flow of customers in a self-service laundry shops.
I do not know how much it costs to have a laundry shop business but with 10 sets of washer and dryer of different sizes, light and heavy load, I am guessing it would be around less than 2 million Pesos.
Water refilling station
It was probably around mid 90s when water refilling stations have started here in the Philippines. Ever since then, they have been one of the businesses that is still standing mostly because clean water is a necessity. One of my college friends had a water refilling station before in Manila. I am not sure if they still have it because most of her siblings are now living abroad and her parents lived in the province until her dad died a few years ago. Back then my friend told me that a water refilling station is a good business because a lot of people needs clean drinking water. I have no idea how much it cost for a water refilling business but we can say that it might be around a million pesos or more.
Oh, all of it are have a potential , you just need to find a perfect location. Coffee shop? Everyone loves coffee!
