When we talk about nature, the first few things that usually pops in our heads are trees and mountains. Most people would tend to forget the ocean as part of nature.

This article is a reminder on how important the ocean is. The ocean is the number one source of protein for billions of people. In this growing population, we are relying on the ocean more and more for survival but it is not only about us.

The ocean is not only important to people but it is also the home of the greatest abundance of life in this world. The ocean is very deep that there is more life below the surface than on land. It is just important to us as to these sea creatures. We all need and depend on a healthy sea.

The ocean doesn't only help people with shelter and food. It also gives us good health, improves physical and mental health. The iodine in the ocean water is actually an immune system booster. It improves our body's ability to fight infections and illnesses. It also helps us emotionally and mentally. The tranquil sound of the ocean and the peaceful claming breeze helps us relax and reset.

I can't wait to go to the nearest beach after the quarantine. I need some time to rest and relax.

When I'm in highschool, I thought ocean is the reason why we have water because of evaporation and why it is raining.

Iodine is not found in ocean water as element, but found in real salt obtained from ocean water. It is even in trace amount, hence salt processing companies still need to add some iodine element to it, for normal body requirements. There are two importance of ocean that you forgot to mention:

  1. Source of large deposits of petroleum (offshore & deep offshore fields).
  2. The major routes for international shipping of goods by water. These two importance contributes greatly to the economy of many nations. Thanks.
